All of the bonus features appear to be exculsive to the complete set (9 discs) and not the two seperate sets (3 discs each). Hope that helps!

Here's part of an article from tweaktown.com regarding the blu-ray release. the article was written 1 day ago

"Interestingly, it seems that Lowry Digital, the firm who restored the films for the previous DVD release are once again restoring the trilogy with a little more time up their sleeve than the 3 months they had to previously work within. Interestingly, Chairman John Lowry allegedly made comments that implied that they were also restoring the original cuts of the film too, but no announcements in regards to content have been confirmed. I guess this time next year we will know for sure..."

My rankings:

Empire
Star Wars
Jedi

and who gives a crap about the other 3.

(although as mentioned above I do like my LD of Ep1 if only because it's a good demo disc for my player)

This is not the iconic Darth Vader we came to love from the OT. I just think his story should have focused more on his gradual descent from being 'a good friend' to Obi Wan (not somebody that talks behind his back and second guesses him constantly RIGHT OFF THE BAT) to the arch nemesis we know from the OT.
Eh? Most of that was explained in AOTC and/or ROTS. His mother died and he fears losing Padme in the same way. Yoda (and Mace in the deleted scene) point out that arrogance is a common trait for Jedi who should know better. Anakin is not only gifted and arrogant enough, but bites onto the hook that Sidious lays out to to think he can use his power and save Padme from the death he sees in his premonitions.

And yeah, saving Padme's life, and later not being able to, is a rather weak motivator for slaughtering Jedi younglings and staying under Palpatine for decades after.
After seems a bit simpler. He probably blames Obi-wan (and by extension the Jedi) for her death and wants to complete his vengeance by destroying any remaining Jedi. He probably went more than a little to the nihilism view of it but the once he was off the deep end in the dark side, about gathering more power. I'm sure there's more than a little love/hate to Darth Sidious but there's the standard Sith desire to surpass his master and get his own apprentice, too

But really this is all making it much deeper than probably intended.

I know the Anakin/Padme stuff is way lame and poorly done. Jar Jar is annoying and some of the plot devices are contrived and just exist to get us to the next scene or conflict. Otherwise, we get to see the lead up for what took place in EPs 4 through 6 which is exactly what prequels are supposed to do.

I just cannot get the hate for these.... cant get it.
I enjoy both trilogies. I happen to enjoy Jar-Jar. He acts like how half of us would act in his shoes.

The Phantom Menace is a film largly deisgned for children (if your hero is a child and the dialogue involves words like "Poo-Doo" you are aiming at a select audience, typical 9-10 year olds). Hell, the violence in the film is largly bloodless. Battle Droids were made because Lucas didn't want to deal with having disembered body parts until later on in the series. Four years later those same kids that LOVED the Phantom Menace, were in the age group that were just discovering their hormones (AOTC). The horrible dialogue is something those 13/14 year olds would find to be something they would say in their confused "I need to speak poetry to get women to love me...' time period. We are ALL embarassed about how we asked the first girl/guy out, and its no different here...lol AOTC is aimed at tweens.

Finally, 3 years later, Revenge of the Sith, which is a much more mature film and (IMO) the best of the prequel series as its aimed at adults and the valuable teen market as well (think the Batman films, mature subject material with plenty of 'pop and circumstance').

What I am trying to say is Lucas aimed the prequel films at a younger generation and the films grew with their audience which was by design. The prequel fims were not made for those of us whom grew up with the OT. Lucas wanted to bridge the generation gap (much like the new Star Trek series is trying to do). Some of us have kids, and Star Wars (the OT) is seen as 'Mom and Dad's Sci Fi', where are the PT is seen as 'My Sci Fi.'

I don't hate the original trilogy, I just see it for what it is. It wasn't made for me. It was made for my kids.
That does make sense. For kid-suitability, I think both trilogies are equal in their mix of seriousness and big space battles and humor. I still think the prequel bashing is because of the nostalgia. I do like the originals better, but I love all six films. I do love bonus feature and all, but they're not the only reason I'm going for the saga set. I enjoy all six films and will enjoy them in HD when they come.

How bad can the prequels be if it was a prequel that elevated Yoda to the rank of bad*&( mother*(%#@&, along with Chuck Norris and, ironically, Darth Vader.

Yeah, he's a tricky fellow. But honestly, I don't care. As long as I get my six films

The key word, though, is gradual. There was no gradual decline. He basically acted the exact same the whole time, and his descent to the dark side is really just defined by a few important events. I'm beginning to think I expected too much from the prequels though. It's not like Luke acted terribly different as he went from a farmboy to a Jedi Knight in RotJ.

I totally agree. I liked the prequels, but he went from Jedi to Sith way too fast.

I've got that too... one of the last major films to come out on LD.

(It's also the theatrical edition of the film... Lucas made some changes by the time it hit DVD -- extending the podrace, adding a shuttle scene on Courasant, etc.)

For me:

1 - The Empire Strikes Back
2 - A New Hope
3 - Return of the Jedi
4 - Revenge of the Sith
5 (tie) - The Phantom Menace/Attack of the Clones

Sith was the best of the prequels, and probably the darkest of the entire series. The acting and dialogue just wasn't too good. The Phantom Menace could have been better than Attack of the Clones, since it had the exciting podrace and Darth Maul. But then they had to put Jar Jar and mess it up.
