Bought this at Wal-Mart the other day. No digital codes or instawatch. That was kind of a bummer. Mine was missing the booklet too. Anyone have an extra one?

Sure, if you want to get technical and miss the point of my post: licensed fan fiction. Better?

I'd call them that. You don't need to if you don't want to.

Actually, there was an option: Adapt his story for the sequels and keep him as a consultant. Which (in case people have forgotten) is what was promised, on video, when the sale was announced. A promise which we only know they didn't keep because George happened to be asked about it during a press junket for a completely unrelated movie.

What about any of the thousands of Batman stories made over the past 78 years that weren't written by Bob Kane or Bill Finger? Is any of that fan fiction?

Wait... You have your own opinion about something subjective that doesn't follow the bandwagon?

Calling an official entry in a movie series "fanfiction" is degrading to those many hundreds of people who worked their butts off to faithfully continue the legacy of a famous property, even without its creator.

You can appreciate the good parts, schlocky dialogue, clumsy writing, and handmaid charm of the prequels and not be a 'prequel kisser.' I like that they have a voice. I like Ed Wood movies and John Carpenter movies because they have a voice even tho they're also pretty schlocky at times. I have a beagle with an eye that looks slightly crooked. She's ridiculous, but I wouldn't have her any other way. I'll never accept the 'everything is either solidly this way or solidly another' mentality that some folks have. Each to their own opinion and all that, but to suggest somebody is 'deluded' for liking them without being able to accept why seems, well, a little deluded.

Actually, if it was an official entry, it would have been labeled and martketed as Episode 7
It never was.

The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi weren't marketed as Episodes V and VI, even though they appear in their respective opening crawls, like The Force Awakens does. By your logic, they aren't official entries, either.

That's it- you've cracked the code! The Force Awakens is not a real Star Wars movie. FAKE NEWS!

This means literally nothing. As another member stated, despite Episode numbers being in the title crawls of the latter 2 films, the original trilogy were never marketed by their episode numbers when originally released, and continued not to be until the 2000 VHS release.

The emphasis on the Episode number thing strarted with the prequels and then Lucasfilm eventually started to refer to the OT with those titles to unify the saga. You may even notice now that none of the films are marketed with numbers anymore. It pretty much stopped after the title of Episode 7 was announced. All of the films are now referred to as Star Wars, followed by the actual story title sans Episode number.

Dude, return it! Immediately. Don't let it drive you to begging. It should've had both of those things! Be righteous! Be pissed!

And their you have it......the reason their can be no civility between fans who have a difference of OPINIONS one side always resorts snide remarks or name calling. I consider myself a huge Star Wars fan who has lived and breathed the movies for 38 years, I have some friends who didn't like the PT but they didn't harp on the dislike they said meh not for me, but their is the sect who constantly harp on what they dislike and some even dislike what they are getting from Disney. Being a fan of everything Star Wars I actually believe it or not......enjoy the special editions but I am disappointed as hell at not getting the UOT on blu ray because I also think it is BS. If something gives you misery you should just stop and move on to something you enjoy life is too short to be a cynical disillusioned bitter fan

I'm a George Lucas fan. Just saying "What George Lucas says." is something less than an "opinion".

With The Force Awakens I'm sure J.J. Abrams' mandate from the bosses was to play it safe and don't do anything too far outside of the box. If fans hadn't been happy with first film it could have sunk a franchise that Disney had just acquired for $4.5 Billion. There was no way they were going to take that chance, especially after the Prequel backlash.
I tried explaining this a year before The Force Awakens was released. People were talking about rumors that Luke had been tortured by Sith Inquisitors in order to drive him to the Dark Side and he killed Han Solo. I told them there was no way that was going to happen, Luke's a brand character for starters, but ultimately, the real reason is that TFA *had* to be a mass-audience crowd-pleaser. It's the foundation of everything coming after. If they flopped right out of the gate, the shockwave wouldn't just be felt at LucasFilm, but throughout the entire Disney company. No pressure, right, JJ?

So he wasn't the one to kill Han. A variation of that could still be true!

No way Luke goes evil. Heartbroken? Embittered? Sure. Does he need a kick in the pants to remove himself from sadness and exile? Maybe. Dark side? No chance in hell.
