Myself and a buddy went to see the digital presentation of Phantom Menace...I want to say it was in Secaucus, New Jersey....when it hit. We enjoyed the movie on opening night but had to check the new technology out. I remember the difference between the regular projection and the digital was staggering. Just startling clarity. There's no doubt replicating that digital presentation to the blu would be a significant upgrade over the existing one.

I'm one of those people who appreciates the puppet Yoda being replaced with the CG version from AOTC and ROTS.

I am still surprised Lucas didn't CGI him out of Empire and ROTJ and have him do a song and dance number.

I’m surprised Lucas didn’t throw in The Imperial March somewhere in Ep. IV.

I dunno about the song and dance bit, but didn't the rumour go that Lucas was indeed planning to CG-ify Yoda in another revision of Empire & Jedi only for someone to talk him out of it? Or am I taking the fact that ILM did their CG tests using footage from Empire, thereby putting 2 + 2 together to make 5?

In any case, let's be thankful for small mercies because George actually says in the commentary for Empire that if he were to do that movie today he'd have had Yoda bouncing alongside Luke in the Dagobah training sessions. *shudders*

I'm genuinely torn because although the puppet is freaky-deaky lookin' it's still being operated by Frank Oz and the updated CG version loses that old-school charm to it, that unique cadence of 'walking' and so on.

I'd love to have the theatrical version of Phantom Menace back again and properly remastered but alas, that's as likely to happen as it is for the OT: Uncle George, he say no!

Replacing the original Yoda puppets, used in episodes V & VI, with CGI, would have been a very bad move. No way I would support a release like that.

The Complete Saga should’ve had the unaltered OT included instead of the three bonus discs.

I always wonder what stopped him from doing that considering the other ridiculous changes.

I think he realised (or somebody had a word in his ear) this would have been one change too many, and perhaps more controversial than either Greedo shooting first or Jabba's SE music band.

I saw in a doco somewhere that he seriously considered doing this and even trailed the CGI Yoda with a scene from ESB (which is something that has never seen the light of day for public consumption), but yeah in the end my guess is that someone advised him not to go through with the whole thing and he wisely listened.

Despecialized for life. If the real versions of the OT hit Blu legit, I'll buy them day one. Until then...nope.

I don't think Episodes II and III can look much better in terms of resolution since they were shot digitally in 2K. However, HDR could beef up the presentation on a UHD.

I just hope if they do release all of them that they don’t release them in 1 boxset. I only want the originals, FA and Rogue.

Is it more enjoyable to watch The Clone Wars in chronological order or episode order?

I tried to watch them and just couldn't get into them. If I was 9 or 10 it might be different, but they are just too children driven.

If there was a thematic reason behind the nonlinear order the episodes aired in, I'd say go for that, but having watched the show in both orders, you will not lose anything by watching it in chronological order. It doesn't make the show any better (and I really don't care for the show, especially compared to its predecessor), but it does feel more natural and makes more sense, IMO.

The CGI Clone Wars cartoons are amongst the best things Star Wars, IMO. They are not Children driven (like Star Wars Rebels which is in fact Children driven).

And I believe episode order is the way to go. Wasn't aware of any other method?

Also, there are 4 unfinished episodes which are considered cannon. You can actually watch them on youtube.

There is an official chronological order:

http://www.starwars.com/news/star-wa...l-episodeorder

And an order that makes even more sense:
