Is the reaction of some random person meant to be significant? If that’s what you’re into I could show it to my neighbour, postman, and pizza delivery guy and post their reactions.

That’s YouTube. A lot of random people reacting to something. Film them you might see your posts here one day!

For some reason it was on YouTube's homepage, I don't have much interest in them, but I experienced schadenfreude as someone who has a dedicated Star Wars channel brain-fade that the difference between the end of Revenge of the Sith and the Vader Obi-Wan duel in Star Wars was thirty years.

I do NOT get all the positive reactions to this Vader v Kenobi clip, on these forums and also among my Facebook friends. It's really making me feel old and out of touch... but I think this duel is godawful and pretty much unwatchable. I haven't even been able to get through the whole thing. It looks cartoony, over-dramatic, badly composed, and completely out of step with the style of the original trilogy. I feel like I'm in bizarro world every time I see someone excited about it. Oh, and YOU KIDS GET OFF MY LAWN!

It's wild, isn't it. About three years ago I figured it was only a matter of time; now I find myself pretty resigned to never seeing them in high quality again. As each year passes, there are fewer and fewer fans for whom this is a priority (or even something on their radar). Eventually we dinosaurs will die off and "What do you mean, 'Special Editions'?" won't sound weird coming from professed Star Wars fans. Shameless revisionism, and a total bummer.

The proliferation of reaction videos and unboxing videos make me feel as old as the hills. I'm beyond baffled by their very existence, and positively gobsmacked at their popularity. Slipcovers almost seem like indoor plumbing or the polio vaccine in comparison.

So what you are saying is that it looks like something George Lucas would have done for Star Wars Special Editions?

Gotta laugh at all of the butthurt caused by some fan creating something for fun and posting it online for others to watch. It didn't cost you anything to watch which is more than I can say for the awful The Last Jedi.

Unboxing videos make can sense especially if there's some kind of toy or swag involved.

And even some reaction videos can be cool.

But a half hour yapping about a six minute video?

That's just...

I don't understand this angry chip you have on your shoulder. I laughed at your first line about the Special Editions, but then you had to ruin the moment by editing it and adding that whole "butthurt" nonsense. And then you went back AGAIN to add in your broken-record Last Jedi jab. Yawwwwn.

I was simply saying I was surprised how many uber-positive comments this clip got, on all kinds of social media. I'm a super open-minded nerd when it comes to enjoying all things STAR WARS, and yet this made me shake my head and wonder what other people were seeing. I don't know why that qualifies as "buttheart", as you put it... in such typically classy language.

I agree 100%. It wasn't terrible for a fan edit, but just looked too cartoony and over the top. Great effort though.

Exactly how I felt. Kenobi's movements did not match who we saw during the first 3/4 of the film. We had already been introduced to a worn man who is starting to become fragile.

That doesn't really matter though considering some pretty elder individuals, Yoda, Dooku, Palpatine all seemed to get very physical when the situation calls for it. They only look fragile to give themselves an advantage.

I see what you're saying, but I don't just buy it terms of the way Guiness portrays Kenobi.

Just as an FYI, even though he's still just a random guy on the Internet at least he has made his own Star Wars fan film so there may be some "fans" of him and his channel that might want to know his reaction to this.

Here's his fan film:

A worm man who is starting to become fragile you say? Just wait for the follow ups:

Obi Wan coming to Luke’s recuse as he’s attacked by the Tusken Raiders - no longer merely a shot of hooded figure with a clumsy walk waving his arms around, now a majestic leap up high in the air with a couple of summersaults and a full superhero landing.

Followed by the messy business at the Mos Eisley cantina. What once was a quick wave of his lightsaber to cut off an arm now becomes a frantic one versus dozens spectacular to rival Neo versus multiple Agent Smiths as Obi Wan slices his way through alien after alien.

Just to be clear, I wasn't having a pop at them (the reactor or the creator), the Star Wars YouTube community is quite close-knit and there are quite a few reactions to the fan-clip.

I just thought it was amusing that his brain associated 30 years between the events I mentioned, when they're about 18-19. I guess the desert environment really got to Obi-Wan.

May 25th coming up in a few days and still no announcement.

Supposedly George Lucas did work and authorize a 4K version of the Original Trilogy but that's probably just the S.E. and probably has the same contrast, color and brightness issues just like the S.E. Blu-rays did.

Had the opportunity to watch Harmy's despecialized edition and boy, did the color and contrast levels look great, natural and lifelike!

Concerning the latter there is tremendous potential for an improvement and IMHO enough justification for another release, regardless whether S.E. or theatrical edition.

At least he didn't let himself go the way Thor did.
