Oh good god are those covers ugly. Unless these add anything substantial or the missing features from the DVD's (BTS of the prequels and the Empire of Dreams doc), I'm gonna hard pass on these.

The Phantom Menace is my favorite of the Prequels (that isn't praise by the way) but the entire movie is not needed at all. Have the first film start with Anakin as Obi-Wan's apprentice and have him meet Padme in a completely different way. In the second film show how the Emperor corrupts him but do it in a way that isn't totally inept. Also maybe have the Emperor come into power without making the Jedi look like complete fools. The Emperor corrupts Anakin and Padme goes into hiding without Vader even knowing she is pregnant. The end.
Oh, I was being sarcastic in my reply, I get the arguments that the prequels could potentially be condensed into 1 or 2 movies.

For me, I actually don’t find them to be too overly padded really, it’s mainly TPM that I think could’ve set some things up a bit better, had Lucas planned ahead more. For example, he could’ve introduced Dooku as a Jedi in TPM who then leaves the order by the end of the film.

I know many people hate young Anakin in TPM, but for the story Lucas chose to tell about Anakin’s fall, I think it was important to see Anakin as a pure, good child in TPM, and to show the attachment he has to his mother. I also think that more is potentially going to be revealed regarding his virgin birth in TROS, and maybe some more info about Shmi, which may also improve this story thread that was setup in TPM.

I'm happy enough to have the UOT on a bluray disc for each film respectively, I've got literally zero issues owning a bootleg of them if Disney won't let me have them.

I think it's reasonable to assume that after Vader saw Obi-Wan disappear after their duel on the Death Star that he didn't just shrug his shoulders and never give it a second thought. After realizing that Obi-Wan possessed a power/skill he'd never seen before, it's reasonable he would do the same type of research that lead to Qui-Gon discovering that power/skill.

You can take away the English on the consoles. You can make Vader scream at the end of Jedi. You can even make Greedo shoot first. But who the **** can stand watching these films without the 20th Century Fox fanfare before the scroll?

I'm just pointing out that there's nothing worth getting excited about for this release.

I was just thinking about that earlier. Hearing that 20th Century Fox theme at the beginning is just as important as hearing the main Star Wars theme. It’s embedded in our brains as being the start to SW even if it plays before any other type of movie.

So I'm assuming no word on if these will be the original unaltered versions? There's still no article on this site yet so I've just been googling the gist of it.

They are just going to be rereleases of the discs that are already out there.

Beyond the Anakin saber goof on the AOTC cover, another thing bugging me is that the Vader image on the ROTJ cover is digital art from The Force Unleashed video game.

It's a light side thing, Vader didn't research it.

I find it kinda ironic that even though they didn’t go with the original posters they still borrowed the image of Han and Leia from the ESB poster for the new cover.

There was still light in him as proven in ROTJ.

And he didn't return from the dark side until the end of ROTJ.
