Even if Vader recognized 3PO, what should he have done? Give him a hug? It would've been stupid and pointless for there to have been any dialogue regarding it as stated earlier here https://forum.blu-ray.com/4404941-post8510.html

The only reason OT characters don't mention characters they met in the PT is that the PT's didn't exist when the OT's were written.

On the colouring front I have a kiddies book of Star Wars and the colouring of the stills is quite purple. Was the purple introduced for the SE's or the DVD's in 2004? It's certaintly more apparent on the DVD's but I may not have noticed on VHS.

I dunno, seems like it'd be kinda odd for Yoda to blurt out that he knew Chewie as he was training Luke in the ways of The Force. Especially when his name was never brought up. The only names Yoda hears are Han's and Leia's. In the whole matter of Vader recognizing Threepio, I definetly agree with monkeyjb1988; I'm sure the hatred in him woulda kept him from getting too nostalgic if he did recognize him/it. However, if you really need that connection, you can always imagine that Vader is protecting Threepio when he gives him/it back to the Rebels

...and when he keeps Boba Fett from firing on Chewie with poor Threepio on his back. I've always found that to be an amusing way to view those scenes with the prequels in mind.

You sound like a mindless Lucas apologist. Given that film is a visual medium, those changes cheapen the story beyond belief.

It would be silly to debate that. I think we can all agree that's a given. But even with the PT in place, there's no logical, plot-forwarding reason that any character in the OT should.

Hey Monkey_Boy that's from Star Wars Tales I mentioned that a few posts back. Great find.

No unless the characters were struck down with constant verbal diarrhoea it would be pointless and boring. And a lot of criticism for Star Wars plot devices more or less turn up in a lot of other movies as well. It's just the nature of the beast.... Not you Beast....

One thing about Shmi Skywalker in PMT though she doesn't seem to be the type to gamble her and here son's freedom on a podrace. That's always seemed out of character.

wow!!, boy i am a huge star wars fan and have been for the past 30 years, but i have never seen so many people analyzing and tearing apart scenes, dialog and what if's so much as here. i guess i never thought this deep into the movies and always just watched them for what they are and enjoyed them for the great entertainment they are

i dont know... i guess i am just older and dont get all the technical talk about PT vs OT and how they go together. they seem fine to me

I think you've been seduced by the Dark Side of the Force, i.e. Lucasfilm Ltd PR....

As opposed to sounding like a mindless fanboy/Lucas hater?

You must realize your ilk pretty much exist only online. These films will sell quite a few copies to the general public, despite the venom spewed online in various forums. I suggest you go back and watch something like Serenity again and pretend you're in the majority.

As opposed to sounding like someone who respects the history and medium of film, most likely.

Are you for real? 'Cuz I've read folks on the internets type this and it seems rather ridiculous. I ran into one guy who went and saw each of them multiple times and yet still complained about everything that was done. When I asked why he went to see 'em over and over again, he simply stated that alotta folks went "just to watch the train wreck that were the prequels". I mean, why spend money on something that rubs you the wrong way? For me, "Jaws" has no sequels. I've spent no money on 'em. Ever. Honestly, it makes no sense to me.

No, I sound like someone dealing with the reality. That the stories remain the same, regardless of some tweaks.

Trust me. Ranting about the changes and calling him names doesn't make you look good.

He's getting his money then regardless, and still satisfying himself as the artist and creator. So cool for him.

Without having any respect for the filmmakers involved, I see.

You can disagree with what Lucas has done but thinking he's a bad person because of it destroys any credibility you have.

I think you need to step back and evaluate the situation dude.Yes,there are changes, and not all of them for the better.Personally,I ask why they changed it so that Greedo shot first. But it in no way altered the movies the way Apocalypse now redux altered the theatrical version.Just chill, and if you absolutely hate the changes made to SW,wait a few years, and I'm sure the unaltered versions will apear on BD.

And then people can complain all over again that he's somehow "milking" the franchise.

Speaking of the SE changes, here is one that I hope they fix as it has always bothered me from day one.

If you notice, they apparently 'cropped' the bottom off of the landspeeder to give it the appearance of 'more lift'.
But in doing so, it now stands out like a sore thumb.

So, here is hoping that they can add it back in while still giving it the appearance of more lift, which maybe just lowering it's shadow might accomplish instead.

What do you mean? I totally respect the filmmakers whose work was painted over with Lucas' video game crap.

Well, he'll undoubtedly make you buy the CGI versions again in order to get the real versions and charge for a two-disc set. If that's not "milking", I don't know what is.

They're all the real versions. You just prefer the old versions. Myself and others prefer the new ones. Both opinions are valid.

And not really, unless you just had to have the original theatrical versions. There was no sense to double dip on the last DVD release, since it just added the bonus discs with the Workprint Versions. And it's not like they were priced at a premium. It was just something extra added when they decided to finally sell the films individually. Which was welcome for a lot of people, who had perhaps a scratched disc or something.
