I am wondering will this blu-ray set come out to this year ? .. I seen on the internet that there working on this as we speak right now . But was back on april 19 , 2010 . I didn't see anymore info on the set . its listed on amazon.com , but thats it . No further info is available on it , it don't tell you the release date or anything else . I also would not mind to see in DTS format instead on dolby digital for once . After all I think DTS sound way better than dolby Digital anyway .

I'm going to buy this and if Lucas wants to keep the crushed blacks in A New Hope and possibly make the series worse, then I'll just get the Adywan versions and have it justified by me paying money for the real crap that is put out while I enjoy the OT the way it is meant to to be watched..

With this new transfer, that look has been completely destroyed. The new color timing does, however, make Star Wars more closely resemble the other five films in the series, especially the latter ones shot by David Tattersall, BSC. Nevertheless, this change was jolting."

Misleading thread. There is speculation, but nothing firm at all about when the release is coming out.

Well the rep from Lucas says things like its in the works and an ultimate set will come out in the next few years. So that 2011 is being optimistic.

I cannot believe how screwed up the DVD release was -- so I'm in no rush to see if the Blu-Ray is any better. Buyer beware.

Overall, the clarity of the images in all three films is astounding. Though detrimental to the first film’s visual scheme, the increased sharpness reveals new details in production design and wardrobe. A restoration team at Lowry Digital spent three months working with more than 600 Power Mac G5s (making up more than 378 terabytes of space) to clean the original films and create pristine digital masters. The color transfers for The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi are nowhere near as problematic as the one for Star Wars; although contrast has been slightly increased in both films, the differences are not nearly as stark. Both Empire and Jedi look fantastic, and some color-correction tweaks have improved previously lackluster visual-effects moments, such as Luke Skywalker’s fight with the Rancor in Jedi. The new color-correction of this scene has cleaned up the composite shots, matching the live-action photography with the stop-motion-animated monster much more precisely, rendering a more effective sequence.

I recently watched the whole SW Saga on DVD and didn't find the colors and contrast changes annoying at all. It's better a tad too dark than hot contrast with blownout whites.

The colors looked great, but I still hope they will find a good compromise.

However, I still prefer the sharp and eye-popping look to the soft and flat old look! Call me a traitor! I don't care!

The purists will never ever be satisfied! Never!

We all know the prequil Trilogy will look much more crisp and new, while the original triligy will look gritty, grainy and a bit les sharp...

But I hold firm that that's okay, they aren't meant to look the same... as long a sLucas keeps each of them true to their time, then
