Wait. Hold on.
I was thinking the same thing!

If it would be "sad" for the 2004 version (with the errors that happened with it) to be released on BD and Theatrically in 3D, then how can you (referring to shelldweller) immediately follow that by saying he's never let you down?

Even if you like the PT and are mostly (if not entirely) happy with the past changes to the OT, by stating that you think it would be "sad" for the most recent updated versions that we currently have existing access to be to released again indicates that at least in some small way, you were let down by them.

"with even more enhancements to the picture quality" should not be construed (IMO) as further changes to the editorial or additions to the CGI. What this means to me is that some scenes may have been re-composited or dirt removed from the negative (in the 1st 4 films), etc. Or, it could mean even less than that and this is just generic marketing-speak.

Perhaps Shelldweller is talking about Lucas as a person, I've heard if you need to move apartment he's there for you at eight A.M flannel shirt rolled up at the sleeves ready lo lift your couch around that awkward hallway, he always brings spare Sharpies to write on your boxes and has three different Pizza guys on speed-dial.

Plus he knows a guy who can get you free cable at your new place.....

The big problem I wanted adjusted is the reverse surround in Star Wars (1977). Big mistake that never got corrected on the 2004 OT release.

As far as I know, the left and right surround were reversed in the 2004 OT release for Episode IV. Lucas never bothered fixing it or recalling it. That I would like to see fixed.

Now, I could be wrong as I only got surround sound a while ago, but that's what I remember being told on this very thread.

I'm pretty sure that just the music is reversed in the rears.

Or it could be just the opposite. Given the fact (as I previously illustrated) that they weren't exactly advertising the changes last time around when the OT first hit DVD, and given that it is well known that the DVDs were rather rushed back when they were released (since Lucas was in the process of working on Episode III and wanted to wait until after he was done with it to worry about releasing the OT on DVD, but conerns over piracy pushed them to get it out faster), it stands to reason that he would finally sit down and take the time to tweek things more carefully that maybe didn't get done quite right, or at all, last time around.

And perhaps they are being more ambiguous and low key about this to reduce as much possibly negative contraversy as possible over doing so.

Along with Chris Meledandri, they will be discussing all aspects of digital cinema - one of the more high-powered panels ever hosted by the convention.

James Cameron, Jeffrey Katzenberg, George Lucas and Chris Meledandri are set to appear together on a panel at CinemaCon, the annual convention of theater owners that takes place later this month in Las Vegas.

They’ll be discussing all aspects of digital cinema. It’s one of the more high-powered panels ever hosted by the convention, although Lucas and Cameron appeared together at the convention in 2005 to talk about digital 3D. CinemaCon runs March 28-31 in Las Vegas; the session on digital cinema will be held March 30.

The following morning, Cameron will give a talk on projection frame rates.

The convention-previously called ShoWest -is getting a facelift this year and a new name. The National Assn. of Theater Owners is now in full control of the show.

Maybe we will hear something about the upcoming 3D conversions or a brand new trilogy here.
Maybe some more blu-ray news.

Nope. John Knoll has stated that the 3-D versions won't have any additional scenes or fixes, and will be exactly the same as the BD versions.
Just 3-D.

I don't see any reason to believe that they would advertise any changes for the Blu-Ray release when they didn't for the DVD release.

Besides I think that short of them (hopefully) correcting the color and sound mistakes made in 'remastering' the 2004 release, there really aren't any major, sweeping changes that "need" to be made. As I said before, I would hope that they would completely redo the light saber effects in the OT since they do stand out like a sore thumb, and that would be a relatively simple thing for them to do. I doubt we are going to see any kind of really noticable changes like when they added Hayden at the end of ROTJ or the change in the Emperor in ESB to make him consistent with his appearance in the PT and ROTJ. It will likely just be more tweeking some easy/minor effects more than anything.
Just Jar Jar's nephew as Luke's companion. He follows him everywhere.

Messa berry exited!!!

I really hope that means the absolute Final Versions of The SW Saga, but then again, only a Sith deals in absolutes.

I want to be blown away, but at the same time I try to keep my expectations low, and don't expect anything other then the best possible presentation of the most awe-inspiring movies ever made on BD!

WOW, wife finally mounted on the wall the surround speakers so that I can finally experience the full power of 5.1 (bought the home theater system back on december 27th....)

Just watched bits and pieces of the Saga on dvd and the experience is no longer the same. I just noticed for the first time ever that, in Return of the Jedi, that when we are in Vader's shuttle cockpit in the beginning, we can hear the humming of the TIES following it.. so now I must watch them all for the last time on DVD before upgrading them to Blu....

Also noticed for the first time the Probe Droid in the Imperial Lines when the Emperor arrives......

Really can't wait for the clarity of picture ans sound of the Blu to discover new things I had never seen/heard before.

Well...if you speak French, that one has the correct 'musical soundtrack' on the DVD and is not reversed.

However, I find that the outright removal/toning down of said soundtrack is far more serious then the reversed musical cues.

That MUST be fixed!

George, make it happen!

And then a nice extra/bonus would be 'isolated scores' without title cards.
