with all this hype the may 4th "news" better be something big that we don't yet know.

oh how i wish the original films would be released...is it possible??

sigh..

greedo shooting, boba fett LOOKING AT THE CAMERA (WTF!?) luke screaming (after CHOOSING to jump), that god awful jabba music cgi crap and that idiot smirking ghost hayden in jedi....ugh.

i've been telling my 2 1/2 year old daughter star wars stories at bed time "tell me about the robots daddy!" i just make em up...i start with darth vader chasing the droids, they escape to the sand planet,,etc etc then they go to the ice planet, and cloud city..until they end up on the teddy bear planet...a sort of rated 'G' version of the trilogy. no shooting, no one dies, no limbs are lost. just good fun. she is friggin mesmerized.

of course ive seen the films a zillions times over the past 30 years so no problem telling it.

at one point i was going to do phantom menace and the other prequels...and realized...i can't do it! because the stories are so totally convoluted and boring they just don't translate to a bedtime story. and didnt lucas keep saying these films are for kids? huh?? "so theres these guys called jedi, oh wait one isn't really a jedi yet even though the opening credits said he was but anyway, and they're going to this big spaceship to talk to some other funny lookin guys because they're blocking trade to a planet sort of illegally..some sort of tax thing? anyway then some robot comes in with some tea and.... oh forget it this sucks i'll just tell you about a boy, a princess, a cool spaceship driver and his giant dog friend and some funny robots and how they have to get away from a bad guy named darth vader"

cuz thats a real story.

can anyone seriously think of bigger cinematic disappointment then the prequels?

indy 4 was terrible but even that isnt in the same league.

"I can't watch those Star Wars films, they're dead things.""
terry gilliam on the prequels

looking for ward to the blus of 4-5-6 tho...even if it has to be the SE.

the prequels will never be shown in my house...i'd consider it child abuse.

Keep in mind, it's also dangerously close to the (re-)opening of "Star Tours 2: the Adventures Continue" at Disneyland/WDW, so they may be using it as a double announcement.
Might as well pile all the franchise marketing in there.

@ Beast, Bluyoda, and kenkraly2004

I've read more comment from you three as I have followed this thread from the beginning. just wanted you guys to know you are like the guys I stood next to in line camping out for tickets. I dont have many people in "real" life that can hold an educated discussion about Star Wars and I'm glad I'm "Standing in line" for the blu ray with some people love star wars and dont just wanna ***** about everything that is wrong with it. Maybe we should start a Star Wars fan thread and everyone that wants to ***** about all the problems can start threir own thread.... and ignore the fact that i've been drinking and watching TPM right now!!!!

That's very nice of you to say such kind complements and in the end we are all star wars fans and we enjoy the films for what they are. Now are their worts with them of course their are any film has worts that some don't like but in the end they are films and we should enjoy them. And come this Wednesday we will be enjoying the details of the blu-ray box set of the star wars saga.

There's a blu-ray logo in the advertisement. It's definitely about the blu-ray release. "Revealed" is just exactly what we've been waiting for, the details and specs of the sets. And the title of that countdown page says "Star Wars: The Complete Saga".

It's just an announcement of the specs. Sept 16, that date has any meaning to Star Wars history? No, not yet anyway, but it'll be an important date itself, it'll be part of Star Wars history when we look back later in future.

There is still absolutely nothing to discuss in this forsaken thread, but come May 4th, I'll be interested to pop in and see what others are saying.

Thank you very much my friend. I really appreciate your kind words.

There actually is a SW fan thread here:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/group.php?groupid=28

, but I don't think I have ever posted anything there, despite being a member.

Always glad to meet another sensible Star Wars enthusiast!

You have read this thread from the beginning?

It's a freaking miracle you survived the constant pointless bickering!

Perhaps we should be more active in the existing SW thread, and now, that the specs, covers etc. are about to be released, the passionate discussions will surely continue here, and we will actually have something to talk about related to the upcoming BD release.

I have very few SW fans, and biggest geek I am friends with is anti SE, so we aren't exactly on the same wavelength either, but he doesn't take it too seriously, and we fun anyway. He just likes to bit%^.

Great to have some additional support on here!

The countdown uses your computer's clock, it's wrong for me as I'm in a diferent time zone. I have to add another 15 hours.

All I really want to know is what will be on that extra disc that comes with the complete saga. I've got the complete saga and the original trilogy on pre-order at amazon.com. If the bonus disc doesn't seem worth it, I'll probably just get the original trilogy. I don't hate the prequels, but I only find myself in the mood to watch them maybe once every ten times I watch the originals. Can't wait to hear what's going to be included.
I thought the documentary that came with the 2004 set was a great making-of of the original trilogy, but I'd love to see more on the making of Empire & Jedi.

Probably the most important thing to me about this upcoming release (besides the obvious boost in quality) is knowing what further changes will be made or unmade. I guarantee that this announcement won't make a single reference to any of the changes Lucas will make.

A poster on originaltrilogy.com made this interesting comparison-
the bottom pic below being from the film itself:

It is either an alternate take or a rehearsal.

Oh well that gives us something to speculate over the next few days!

Not terribly exciting but local Australian retailer JB Hi-Fi has a small marketing image which appears to be official as it includes the Fox and Lucasfilm logos. Nothing to write home about as no details are included but at least it's something while we wait for May 4 to roll around!
