Well said I will be buying the blu-ray box set of the star wars saga because of the audio and picture quality in HD and because I am a true star wars fan and have been since 1990. I was born in July 83.

cool. To be honest, i'm not really into audio quality that much. I just want to see the movies in the best picture quality. I mean I have a sony system that's loud enough for me..it doens't have to be like perfect with sound and all that jazz. I don't think I even have my set up at 5.1.

People will complain about the sound or something like that...totally expected. I was born in 72 and saw a new hope at the movies..forever changed my life. I also saw all the Prequels at the movies..LOVED THEM!!!!

If I´m going to compare something with Beta tape I could just stick with DVD..
You can't imagine how it was to watch star wars on beta on a small television in the 80's....it sucked! SUCKED!!! SUCKED!!! therefore, i'm not going to complain about anything. I'm very well happy the quality of Bluray discs.

I have gone back and forth trying to decide if I am going to pre-order this or not and I think I will wait about a month after the release to purchase.

For some reason I want to ensure there aren't any image our sound quality issues that will cause us to go through a disc replacement program.

We saw it with Gladiator, Matrix, Saving Private Ryan, Sunshine, etc. I don't want to deal with the hassle.

AOTC and ROTS certainly could.

I guess extras will be in both SD and HD for at least all the new content.

Those are WB and Paramount. Fox has never had such an issue, and I don't think the SW set will suffer from anything like that. They can't afford to.

Just pre-order already!

Indeed. specifics and other miniscule things don't matter...I already know bluray looks better than DVD..so that's all that matters...

and when you say bad transfer what exactly do you mean? I am sure, the bluray will look better than the DVD..all that matters to me...I grew up in the 70's/80's. I wasn't a spoiled brat.

Yeah i grew up in 70s & 80s too man but i cant see what that has to do with anything though

Take Predator and Gladiator two of my favourite films which got bad transfers. i owned them on VHS, DVD and then BD . Thats a lot of money i forked out for those movies so i felt i had every right to complain they got such bad transfers that the bluray was not much of an improvement over the DVD

Same with Star Wars over the years ive owned the VHS, remastered VHS, DVD and now im getting the BD. thats a lot of dosh Lucas has had out of me. If im not happy because it got a bad half-assed transfer then ive got every right to complain.

star wars in better-than-DVD form has been available for YEARS.
These blu-rays should be top notch. If you're happy with studios throwing you half-assed scraps for MAJOR movies, you're a sucker.

.

Oh? prove it. HD over the television doesn't count. over the air or over cable always looses information while travelling. You don't get the full package.

This isn't 1990. HDTV is compressed digital video, same as blu-ray. You don't "loose" information.

Proof? here are some screen caps, i'll leave the googling to you...

You said digital video. Digital video is inferior to digital media like HD cams. HDTV where you get the signal from a server or the internet (netflix) is inferior to bluray.

Once it enters the super highway of information and bits...it leaves behind something and you don't get the full current. HDTV is not the same a bluray. No way, no hay. sure, some studios do poor jobs with blurays and it looks like HD, but not Lucas. I guarantee you that!

Those screen caps look like their from the HBO HD and or Spike TV HD Broadcasts and not the upcoming blu-ray box set.

They are...HBO is a scam. they only had a digital channel broadcasting the film. Just because you broadcast something on HDTV does not make the original content HD. star wars has never been on HD so how exactly did they do that? they were basically broadcasting the regular DVD over an HD channel. lol. funny how people buy this stuff.

I just hope that firmware updates are not needed for when this comes out. Sony keeps up pretty well, but Vizio is terrible about updates.
