From what I read, the two rears get dropped. But from what you're saying the two rears get mixed into the L&R surrounds?

I predict you will all hate it. Then you're going to wait to buy it..then later in the day people will start bashing lucas. I will be happy that I'm getting it on bluray as I don't care about miniscule things..I'm getting the same story...and that's what I love..the storyline and that forever will remain the same. Mtfbwy.

Precisely. That's how people somehow manage to listen to movies mixed in 7.1 through their TV speakers.
Here's something right from High-Def Digest's Josh Zyber:
Quote:
When a 6.1 or 7.1 soundtrack is played in a 5.1 system, any audio cues intended for the surround back channels are simply folded over to the main left and right surrounds. You will not lose any audio. The only thing you might lose is the added directionality that the extra speakers would provide.

Oh, ok.

In that case, bring on the 7.1 DTSHD/DDTHD.

I hope GL superimposes Sebastian Shaw over Jake Lloyd, & Hayden Christensen in E.1-3.

Same here. I have a few Blu-ray friends, but nobody with a 7.1 or even 5.1 system capable of decoding the amazing audio that accompanies most every Blu-ray. I think they're just not willing to drop the money on it.

Maybe he can add a scene where Anakin sees an image of himself in the force, that looks like Sebastian Shaw.

So he vows if he ever comes back as a blue sparkly ghost, he's going to keep his good looks no matter what.

Ya, too many still think it's expensive and not worth the upgrade. I once thought that as well till my upconverted DVDs started looking like crap. I then realized that studios were focusing on Blu-ray and not DVD, so we switched. The Star Wars Saga is the last of my DVDs that I need to get Blu-rays for, then it's blu-rays forever, well until they come out with a new format.

Is that a technical term by chance?

I'm interested to see what we get revealed tomorrow. Hoping for a look at the packaging. I hope it's not some sort of slip thing like the Alien movies or whatever you want to call the Back to the Future packaging. I want a stinking case. Whether it be one for all of the films, one per trilogy or even one per movie.

I think the technical term is "Blue Glowie". Though Lucasfilm refrers to them as "Force Ghosts".

I really like the Alien packaging, so I wouldn't mind a similar "Book" format for each trilogy.

Hell, I wish they were digibooks for each film. But maybe when the 3D versions get released.

We should start one of those fancy petitions to get the term "Blue Glowie" added to the films

Packaging like that would by no means keep me from buying this set (especially since I got it in my Gold Box on Amazon and paid for it fully with gift cards )...but I wouldn't be the happiest camper.

I'd just print out some custom covers and get replacement cases down the line at some point. We have some great custom cover guys here

I'm sure we'll see Digibooks of at least the original trilogy at some point in the future.

Lucky you. I'm just gonna buy it at Best Buy on release day. Can't wait!!

And yeah, I love unique packaging. Though I have to say the 3rd Narnia Film is pushing it.

Mayhaps Best Buy will have some sort of collectible with it like they do for some releases.

Millenium Falcon possibly.

I haven't seen the Narnia packaging. Going to go and look it up now.
Edit: I don't like the sound of that one at all.

Yeah, it's not the greatest packaging in history. And I tend not to be very picky.

I hope everybody gets pissed, regardless. And if you don't get pissed, act like it anyway, because this thread is awesome when everyone is at each others throats.

Agreed, I'll try to start something... The special editions are clearly better than the originals

Let's get ready to protest outside of Lucasfilm. Everyone get their pitchforks and fake plastic lightsabers.

Don't forget to contact Shatner for the plans to the Ranch, and you can break in and steal the original prints.
