I'm hoping it will be saved by a bad-ass slip.

The only thing I keep slips on is Disney movies, but if they do something decent here I'll be happy.

This is really the very last image I ever would have wanted to see on the Complete Set...Yeah I get it, but that doesn't mean I like it. The other two are magnificent, but the complete series is BLECH.

We don't know that they won't. The description of the bonus disc for both trilogies is pretty open to interpretation.

Well, realizing at 8:30 PM (local time) that today was the day that the Star Wars Blu-ray box set information was going to be made public, I found out there were forty new pages in this thread .
Now while I think my preference for the Original Unaltered Trilogy is well known, I don't hate the Special Editions, nor the Prequels. And with that said, I absolutely adore the Complete Saga box art. While George could've gone with some big floating heads, photoshopped into a single cover (like he did for the DVDs) he gave us a surprisingly simple yet iconographic image, that really tells you all you need to know about the saga. In this day and age of photoshopped movie posters, a painted piece of art promoting a movie (or movie series) is a revelation.
Now, the supplements situation is a bit odd. At one hand, Lucas seems perfectly fine to use existing bonus materials (the audio commentaries, the archival making of documentaries) while for some reason the good stuff isn't included. Empire of Dreams, The Beginning, From Puppets to Pixels and Within in Minute are all documentaries I've seen multiple times, and they deserve to be included in this set. I could argue that there isn't enough new material, but when you deal with a movie series that exists over thirty years, pretty much everything has been said at one point, so opening the archives seems like the right thing to do. So if George Lucas really wishes to put CGI aliens over the screen, then that's fine with me. As long as the movies are in top notch quality, and there aren't any sloppy mistakes the DVDs had.

I was quite hoping for an archival one, done like the Aliens set did where they just put it all on there.

Some of the docs sound interesting. But I don't feel like a whole lot was revealed - especially all the things we've been asking about.

Again, sorry if I missed it but they didn't announce if the originals were in Special Edition format or not did they?
They will be the "updated" versions. Likely the DVD versions with a little nip and tuck here and there. (Digital Yoda in Ep. I, etc.)

Hey, I was wondering um... Who or what is up with this I circled in the picture? I don't remember this in the movie and I have seen A New Hope probably 500 times literally... lol Apparently this is from the back of the Complete Saga Box Art Work.

It could be one of those animals that was towing the pod racer in PM which also farts when jar jar is behind it?

I'm hoping that the CG in episodes 1 and 2 is re-rendered to match RotS. Jar Jar in 1080p! Good grief, it doesn't bear thinking about!

Btw, the above image? Beru Lars and Owen. Left side prequels, right side originals/combo.

On the flip side, we have Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader cover art, which I thought captured the theme and art of the movie quite nicely.

[Show spoiler]
yeah, 'Voyage of the Dawn Treader' great art, less than stellar release - no 3D, recomposed AR, no 7.1 audio - epic fail in my book.

Okay yeah maybe so just didn't look to much like it. I haven't seen the prequels as much as I have the OT.

I'm starting to think, based on the same press release at other Blu Ray centric websites, that NONE of the supplements from the existing DVDs are being ported over.

In a way, I'm kind of glad. This isn't a Lord of the Rings-type situation where they're just taking the DVDs and putting them inside the Blu Ray cases.

Lucas, it seems, is giving entirely new set of deleted, extended, and alternate scenes, along with new interviews and such.

I'm very fascinated by what the supplement material will hold.

That's extremely awesome and all, but it's not the Complete Saga. It's A New Hope.

If that is Luke on the cover of the Complete Saga set, why is he transparent? And why does he look like a hunchback?

I don't know what the cover designers smoked or drank, but they should stop taking it because it sure didn't help with an ounce of creativity.
