Another trilogy would not make any sense! The complete story is told... what could possibly happen in another trilogy that would add anything to the overall story? The saga is just perfect the way it is. You can´t improve on a perfect circle. Why are people always asking about more Episodes? I just don´t get it...

That's false. A sequel was slated immediately following ROTJ in 1983, but was cancelled. There was also no plan to continue the series, and the idea was rejected multiple times before TPM script was turned in. The result of so many deleted scenes for TPM is also the result of the outright disgust that the script had generated.

It's not that the saga needs anything, I think it's simply the want for more Star Wars. There's tons of books that could easily be turned into movies. And of course, with the movies called "Episodes", there's always potential for more.

Just my two cents...

1. I could care less about the packaging...not that important that i'm going to sleep over it. Its not going to affect my life directly. It can be anything. I'm happy with the Saga package.

2. UTO. I've seen the originals over and over for 20 years (500 times)...I know them...I don't need them. I have them on VHS and if they are not released I aint gonna die.

3. I want to see the prequels again on digital format. As I saw them on a digital theater...I want to see the podrace, the geonosis battle and the duel on bluray.

4. I want something fresh and new. A reinvention. I want to see the never before seen footage. The desert storm scene in ROTJ and the lost Luke footage. I want the biggs toshe station back in the movie.

5. I want a new commentary by the main cast. Harrison, Mark, Carrie...Not Ben Burt Again please!

6. I want to see the Ewok films, the Droids cartoons, the Ewok Cartoons on bluray...the entire series!!! PLEASE!!!

7. The Holiday Special on Bluray! Yes, it was great!

8. The special edition: the effects redone. fixed. Make the films better..be innovative...be resourceful and dynamic...Make the films effects better!!!

9. Greedo shot first because Lucas says so. Han Solo is not a killer.

The problem, according to Lucas, was that the battle between him & Obi-Wan wouldn't even fill one movie, let alone any more. He knew that if he made just one prequel to "Episode IV", there'd be tons of folks asking, "Well, what happened before that?". So, he did his best to start at what he believed was the true beginning of "Star Wars", with Anakin as a young slave on Tattooine. He wanted to show how unstable Anakin's emotions really were, due to his early abuse by slaveowners, his ties to his mother, and his later conflict with the rules of the Jedi Order. Combine al of that with a Sith resurgence after 1,000 years of peace, and Palpatine controlling things like the Wizard of Oz...that adds a lot of meat to the story, and also fleshes out the timeline a great deal more. People complain all the time, saying the prequels aren't the same as the originals...and they're right, but they forget (or choose to ignore) one thing: they're not supposed to be the same. Certain events and places mirror each other, but Episodes I - III represent a "glorified" version of galactic history. IV - VI were post-apocalyptic, and very industrial in nature, but Lucas attempted to inform his audience that things weren't always that way.

No problem; I have it, too, but seeing all those amazing videos in HD would be an incredible treat.
1+

The "fans" would have complained no matter what.

Star Wars was originally going to be Episodes I - IX. Even if you had seen the original starwars.com web site it listed all 9 of them. I doubt we will ever see the sequel trilogy though. George did say that IF he did another trilogy it would be almost a 1000 years before episode I when yoda was a padawan fighiting the sith.

NOTE: I always found it interesting as a kid when I read the side of the VHS trilogy (the THX remasters) that read "I hope you and your family will enjoy these films and more Star Wars films to come ... "

In fairness, neither one of them had much to work with. George has an unbelievable talent when it comes to creativity and general story telling. Hes not the best director though and needs to stay OUT of the love scene dialog business. It was Bad.

That being said, the Kamino stuff, the assasin stuff, the larger relationship developing between Padma and Anakin(albeit dorky) were cool and/or important pieces of the series. Its also the first time we see Anakin "wigging out" and even though those scenes arent handled that great, they ARE important. He also questions Obi-Wan for the first time and challenges the Jedi authority for the first time which is critical in his characters descent into the dark side.

The arena battle is certainly there just for entertainments sake but it has some cool parts. The robot factory is AWFUL and I always fast forward that!

Overall, I have no problrm with AOTC or any of the other films. Sure, I like the priginals the best but those are what I grew up with so its only natural I side with those.

AOTC was a great scifi film. I loved the coruscant chase, the arena batle, the geonosis battle, the dooku vs Yoda scene..it was an incredible movie. Or do you think clash of the titans was a better movie?

People didn't like the Shakespearian style of acting in AOTC because people are uneducated today..they do not like manners and respect. Anakin and Padme relationship is taken out from shakespear and the 50s style of acting...it's not natural or realistic...it's supposed to be stylish...I didn't have a problem with it.

People who do not like that type of acting are morons and I would advice them to take a classical acting class.

On the money.

But the problem with Clones is twofold. First, the editing by Ben Burtt killed that film. Having read the script and watching the film, I just don't understand what Ben Burtt was doing. Some of that is on Lucas, but Burtt hurt that film. Apparently, that's where the split between Burtt and Lucas began.

The other aspect of the editing was the creation of the droid factory sequence. It was created in February of 2002, three months before the film was to be released. It greatly changed the whole edit of the film. Had it stayed the way it was scripted, Clones would've been better off. It killed the score. It killed the tone of the actual arena battle with having 3PO at the arena battle...because of the droid factory sequence.

The second aspect of the film that hurt it was ADR for Hayden and Natalie. Frankly, both aren't the best at it. The evidence is in Sith where they didn't use that much ADR between the two and their performances in that film are much better off.

I agree that Lucas was going for a very, very stylized form of performance with the love story in Clones. The scenes themselves are fine. It's just that the ADR from them was what kind of killed the naturalness of their performances.

In my humble opinion....

Fair enough. I want to see the Ki Adi Mundi attack on the droid ship put back in the movie in the BD. Ben Burtt I agree focuses too much on loudness and sounds in AOTC...But ATOC for me was a dark film. Kinda like ESB...with Anakin loosing his arm and those shots of red and blue during the duel. And then when he goes crazy on tattoine in Luke's station...that scene gives me goosebumps.

Oh, no doubt, it is a dark film. It's just that it has the worst editing of any of the Star Wars films and that's on Burtt. For some reason and I've never found out why, Lucas choose Burtt for the edit on that film when Burtt was only an associate editor previously.

Either way, Clones is the only film where I wonder what would've happen had a real editor got a hold of that film because the ingredients are there.

Ben Burtt thinks he's some god because he created the sound fx for the lightsabers and artoo. Heard him talk on the DVD commentaries...he's all full of crap.

Yeah. You do get the sense in the commentaries that Ben Burtt believes he knows more than he actually does. It's very apparent.

This is like having a Tarantino sequence in a Michael Bay film. The two just don't work together. Shakespear and Star Wars....um...no.

I see your point, but the style in which those scenes were done only hightened that they do not fit at all with the other 5 films in the series making them odd and uncomfortable. What these scenes ulitmately achieved were showcasing just how bad Lucas is at dialogue and directing anything that is not a blue/green screen. I see where you want to go with this, but the truth of the matter is it failed and a good editor (as has been discussed arleady) would have edited the hell out of that trainwreck. Even better, a good producer (with balls, and that means someone other than McCallum) would have asked George to maybe consider a reshoot/rewrite. The scenes did not work.

The thing with the prequels is that you have a large number of A list actors who all jumped at the chance to be in a Star Wars movie; but how come nearly all of them came out badly?

The best acting in the prequels is Liam Neeson in ep1 and Ian McDiarmid in all three. Otherwise every single top notch actor somehow managed to NOT deliver their role in a convincing way, that has to be down to the script and the directing. Sam Jackson was fine, but not at his best. The bizarre thing is I remember Lucas saying that with digital filming he could extract the actors from a scene and pick their best performance; so if Ewan was good in a scene where Liam wasn't; it didn't matter because he could remove that Liam performance and cut in a better one to create a seamless "take" of their best scenes. Nice idea, so how did that not translate to the final product?

I don't hate these films, but they are not as good as they should/could have been.

I think the big mistake with the prequels was to film so much of it as CGI; even today I bet those films would be shot using more physical sets. It was an experiment that didn't quite come off; in the HD showings I've seen on tv the prequels have dated worse than the originals because the effects look fake, particularly the backgrounds. I hope this is something that's been addressed for the blu-ray release.

I'm buying the complete set and have to agree that the package art is awful. What were they thinking? Thankfully only the spine will show. Unless they release a collectors edition.
