There is a big difference from learning it in school and using it in the real world. I've seen numerous "hot-shot" law students go into a courtroom, thinking they know it all, and get eaten alive by the judge. Just because you learn it in a classroom doesn't make you an expert.

Anyway, I'll be glad when we get more specs and info on the BD release and have something worthwhile to discuss. This whole PT/ OT debate is never-ending. It would be easier to find a solution to world peace than the PT/OT debate.

She needs more emotion in her acting..and this is in all her acting roles, not just star wars.. I think she took the role of queen too seriously and she looked very nervous and scared playing the role. I think by rots she felt more comfortable playing a queen.
Too bad they didn't tell her that she was supposed to be a Senator in Eps 2 and 3

The only solution is the Death Star. Fear will keep the UOT/PT fanboys in check. Fear of this battle station

Lots of interesting discussion in here.

Lucas is a toymaker stuck in a filmmaker's life. For example, the documentaries of the prequels show him asking people to design various creatures and whatnot before he's even written the script. Lucas made these movies to secure a new generation of fans and profit, and including random shots of a bunch of weird-ass background creatures was his ticket.

In the OT there are odd creatures, landscapes, etc., but they served the story (except that song sequence in ROTJ...). The cantina scene in A New Hope shows the viewer how this is a diverse, ranged universe with lifeforms of all sorts. In the prequels it's just redundant. Nobody cares about Jar Jar or Dexter Jettster (to paraphrase Red Letter Media's review).

Lucas has a great imagination and grand vision, but it's the people around him that really helped the OT to be so great. ROTJ is when Lucas began to have full autocratic control, and it shows. The prequels just are not very good movies. The story is there, but it's executed poorly and there is no central protagonist (Obi-Wan comes close). The dialogue is weak and viewers just don't connect with the characters. People HATED Anakin in TPM and AOTC - this is not a fluke. The writing was poor. But with nobody to question George, a likely first draft became the final draft without any constructive changes. The prequels feel very unrefined in terms of the storytelling. They have their moments, but in most cases the negative outweighs the positive.

It's not that he didn't have anyone that could not question him, it's that he fired anyone that did. He removed creative tension from the equation, and isolated his vision where he wouldn't allow anyone else access to it. So there were no checks and balances present for the prequels, like there had been with the original films.

You can also see some of this in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, although that film isn't nearly as bad as Epi I-III. At least with KotCS, Lucas had both Harrison and Spielberg to contend with, and Ford said no to Lucas over and over with his initial script ideas. That's why KotCS is watchable, and the SW prequels are not.

That's a nice way to sum it up eloquently. Skull had it's flaws to be sure, but it watchable and kind of fun.

This thread is a train wreck, and Starwarsagent is its conductor.

Everything the guy says is wrong. Everything.

"80% of the sets in the prequels were real!"

"Padme was still a queen in episode 3!"

"AotC was a great film! I loved fight scene #1, fight scene #2, fight scene #3, and fight scene #4! Incredible film!"

"Lucas is a great director, even though his actors don't listen to him!"

"If I had the money, I'd be a big, famous movie director!"

"Christensen's and Portman's acting in their love scenes is so well done and sublime! Shakespeare would be proud!"

Exactly. KotCS does not ruin the IJ franchise. It's the weakest of the four films, but even with it's flaws it's still a fun movie. That will be a bluray "complete set" that I will fully partake in.

Hardly. It's as good, if not somewhat better than Raiders in a lot of areas.

And certainly better than the other two. Especially Temple of Doom, which is pretty awful compared to the other chapters.

Yeah, like the extremely well developed Russian villain with the very believable accent, or the convenient new sidekick that betrays Jones (never saw that coming), or the wonderfully fun swinging with the monkeys sequence.

And let's not forget about nuking the fridge (although I personally like that one for it's sheer hilarious absurdity).

Totally serious. It's pretty on par with Raiders. Stronger in some areas, weaker in others.

But it's way better than The Last Crusade. And eons better than Temple of Doom.

I'd say it's a toss up between X-Men 2: X-Men United and X-Men: The Last Stand.

None of the X-Men film are perfect, which is why I was hoping for a reboot. But alas.

Indiana Jones 4 is utter garbage compared to the other 3...

I apologize if this was discussed - does anyone know if we are getting the best aspect ratio? I can't say I am a genius when it comes to this stuff while I do know a bit but I know there are far more intelligent people on this site when it comes to this sorta stuff.

So are we getting the best possible aspect ratio? I heard different things on different sites.

We are getting the correct theatrical OAR - 2.39:1 on all films. So that'll mean black bars at the top and bottom of your TV

I think Episodes 2 and 3 had some theatrical releases (for the IMAX) done in different, taller aspect ratios, but they won't be the ones on the BD...
