I have seen the prequels. Didn't like them at all. So i assumed the first 3 were the same. But when they come out on Blu I'll watch them.

Money.

Why is it it that only George gets criticized for making money on his creation when every other studio does the same thing with their properties.

Or is that asking too much?

Also, they need to fix the sound on Episode III, as the bass was lacking compared to Episode II.

Yeah, especially around the light sabers. The Obiwan/Anakin vs Dooku fight in Ep.II had some major bass, yet there wasn't much anywhere in Ep. III.

Yeah, my younger female cousin was one of those up until a few years ago. I think she finally watched them by the time Ep. III came out. She was born in '82, so yeah, she was one who wasn't just quite old enough, to have gotten into them even as they came out on VHS years later.

And yes, I'm old enough to have seen ANH in the theater in May '77.
The 97 SE were made because the original negatives were so poorly degraded if they had not gone back and restored the movies at that time they never would have been able to go back and do it. This is clearly stated in the appendix footage on said DVD's.

The 97 SE were not that bad in fact being as I had never experienced Star Wars in a theater I rather enjoyed them. Everyone *****es and complains about them however Lucas Vision has always been a saga that jumps out at you, hence why now he wants to tweak and modify them with 3-D, at the time he produced said movies the technology did not exist to do what he truly wanted.

In-fact sadly we will never truly see the end of the movies as the actors have become to old and dated to go back and create 7-9, We almost had them however Lucas felt the need to tell the origin story of Vader rather then move onto the Vice Admiral Thraughn; Han and Leia Children becoming Jedi, Leias Jedi training, return of the emperor/luke crossing over to the darkside and coming back part of the series. Fact is Lucas adamantly denies these were ever in the works, even tho there are numerous media articles where he admitted them.

People need to just accept what is is what is... what will be is what will be... and what we get is what we get, enjoy it and relax, it will be i am sure reference quality with fantastic remixed 7.1 sound in DTSHD-MA Glory

Except for the fact that Lucas likes to use TrueHD instead of DTS-HD.

So let's see, I bought the original 3 on VHS, then on DVD, then extended versions, then the last three and now the Blu-rays. I count that as a 5 dipper!! Am I a sucker or what?

You don't need to answer that.

This was deliberate.

It was done to bring them in line sound-design wise with the sabers in the OT, which were NOT bass-y.

It also heightened the impact when Anakin activated his with the Younglings.

I hope they make a real complete boxset, including the Ewok movies, the Ewok series, the Droids series and the infamous holiday special.

So, let me get this straight. Lucas did restore the negatives, but then supposedly tosses out things randomly, inserts things randomly and claims that this version is the only thing that survives? That doesn't make sense at all. For someone who's actually a member of the The Film Foundation (made for the restoration and preservation of movies) he's awful at preserving his own.
