Yeah well people eat it up.

There is double, tripple and quadruple dipping all through the industry.

I can understand the frustration. But until people quit eating it up and show their unwillingness to purchase it is just something that has to be accepted. But as you say people in general keep eating it up.

The only venue they will listen to is the market place.

It is sad but true.

I remember those. The ones you linked to were from the '97 VHS SE set. Those total around 20 minutes. The '97 SE Laserdisc contains a 30-minute featurette that has the footage you posted plus 10 extra minutes.

There's a chance that featurette may still be on the blu-ray set. Disc 8 has a fairly vague description in the press release. It mentions archival interviews, which the above could fall under. That featurette, along with the 20-minute Lucas/Maltin interview from the '95 Faces set, and the '93 Definitive Collection LD set extras could all end up on disc 8. The second set of archival interviews that they mention being on the three film discs sound like the commentaries from the '93 LD set.

Here's the LD featurette(with the 10 extra minutes) from the '97 SE set:

Part 1

Part 2:

Were there retail exclusive editions of the DVD release in 2004 btw?
Just curious if we can expect something like that for the Blu Ray release.

I really hope some more details will be revealed soon... something about the actual movies and details about the specials on disc 7 and 8. Disc 9 would really improve if "Star Warriors" and "Star Wars tech" wasn´t on it... Can´t imagine watching those features even once. That´s a sad thing to say being a Star Wars fan from beginning. Hope the prequels aren´t as underrepresented as it seems special-feature-wise ...

Yeah, I hope so too. I really want the Form Puppets to Pixel and the like included in HD, and some new documentaries about the VFX and everything else would be great as well.

I am just hoping they change their minds on Empire of Dreams (complete version). I would also hope they would find more extra material with regards to Williams, Kershner and Kurtz who are arguably just as deserving of the credit behind the success of the Original Trilogy as Lucas.

What do you personally think of the special features presented to this moment?

There were only two exclusives that I can remember:

* A Best Buy oversized tin (to hold all the movies)
* A Wal-Mart bonus DVD (Story of Star Wars)

Default 3D Blu Ray or Blu Ray?

Hey guys I have been trying to figure out if I should purchase the upcoming release of the Star Wars Saga on Blu Ray this September. Then I found out next year the movies will come out in theatres in 3D followed by retail releases of them as well.

I am curious to know if the picture quality is going to be better or the same with the September retail release or the upcoming 3D conversions. As far as I know if you dont have 3D you can watch the movies with it off. If I am wrong I apologize. I am posting because if the quality is going to be better with the 3D releases I think I am going to hold off my purchase. Thanks for reading and responding, much appreciated!

I doubt there will be any difference in picture quality, I guess it depends on what scenes have been given the 3D makeover and if they include more up-to-date CGI than the inital Blu-ray release. Although I'd imagine the 3D versions will make it to home video there hasn't been any comfirmation on that and I thought the films were going to be released at the rate of 1 a year so that's at least a six year wait unless they accelerate that schedule.

All six films will be out in blu ray 3D in 2017 so its better to get this set

Agreed, unless you want to watch, read and listen to how much fun all your mates are having with their new Star Wars Blu-rays, I'd get September's set. There will always be something better to come along and I wouldn't want to miss out and speculate on the future releases.

Those are the two I remember as well. The tin was a Best Buy exclusive for the 2006 trilogy 2-disc sets that contained the theatrical versions.

The "Story of Star Wars" was an exclusive DVD packaged with the Revenge of the Sith DVD in 2005 at Wal-Mart.

There was also "Star Wars: A Musical Journey" DVD with the Revenge of the Sith soundtrack:

As for the 2004 OT DVD set, I can't think of any store exclusive disc-related bonuses.
