Hmmm Han Solo as a former imperial soldier - that's kind of cool. Although would he have sounded so akward and uncomfortable on the radio in his famous "weapon malfunction" scene if that were the case? That's one of my favourite scenes where he ends up blasting the radio.

“Uh, uh… negative, negative. We have a reactor leak here now. Give us a few minutes to lock it down. Large leak, verrry dangerous.“

Well, one could always assume that it had been some time since Han's military days, and he'd lost his affinity for procedure during that time. Either that, or he simply sucks at throwing people off (Boba Fett was able to follow him in "Empire", after all).

What takes place in EU books has no bearing on anything related to the Original Star Wars Trilogy or thier characters...

Han would never ever have been an Imperial Soldier. Most Imperial Soldiers are clones anyway. Han is not a character (with a complex backstory) like Han or Luke but rather the archetype of a pirate.

I've never read a Star Wars book, just glanced at the jackets. And some of them feature a graphic timeline to show where each of the books fits into the overall EU, which includes the films.

So I thought the books (or most of the books) were considered canon by Lucas. Are you claiming that they're not canon? If so, what evidence do you have? Obviously the books were written after the first movie was released.

I was simply referring to what was written in "The Han Solo Trilogy", by Ann C. Crispin (had to look it up). I got a few of the minor details wrong, but you can read all about it right here.

Oh please. Your lines are getting older than Yoda.

It was always 9 chapters. Then after Return of the Jedi (way back in 1983) Lucas pulled back and said he'd only do the prequel trilogy, saying 7-9 were no longer needed.

"All through the '80s" indeed.

Then again, I'm an actual Star Wars fan so I know these things and have books, comics, collectibles, magazines, etc from 1977 on.

Because of events the expectations for any future script was low. The droids idea was simple.

Yes I meant 9 chapters, not 12. Then again I am an actual SW fan since May 25th 1977. Have every issue of Bantha Tracks up until 1983, every Starlog, Fantastic Films, Famous Monsters, Fangoria that featured Star Wars, every trading card..all six of the orignal Comics, every original movie program from the opening day at all three of the OT films, every ORIGINAL Poster Style A and B from each of the OT films etc etc etc....all in this room I am sitting in as I type this. I still have every ticket stub from seeing Star Wars (32 times from May of 77 to July of 78) 12 times in the summer of 80 for ESB and 6 times for Jedi , I have purchased every VHS, Laser Disc and DVD release of the films as they have been made available....And your point is?

When a jedi/dark side jedi becomes a Sith, he takes a name: Sidious, Vader, Maul etc.. and all attachments to his previous life are supposed to be forgotten, they are a liability. This is nothing new really, some of the books cover this in great detail.

I made a post about being surprised that all this discussion off-topic from the blu-rays themselves has taken place, and it was deleted. This is a legitimate, non-offensive observation based on the fact that the thread has derailed in the past and been set back on track.

Why is the mod (or mods) targeting me? What in my single sentence post is more heinous than the vehement discussion or personal attacks between people in this thread? How is that more off-topic than people talking about who is a bigger fan, or how many movie stubs they have?

I posted one slightly controversial but completely harmless video last week and now I'm blacklisted from posting anything in this discussion. Do I have to make a new login? Or will the mods track my IP and continue to delete my posts?

Nothing against cowboy, but he's criticizing George Lucas and his posts stand. My video last week made a couple lighthearted jokes and was deleted. That's inconsistent.

I did not say anything about George in my deleted post from a couple hours ago, but it's funny that everyone aside from me is allowed to have an opinion.

The same thing happened to me... basically all I said is that I respect George Lucas and really like his movies. The post was erased also. There doesnīt seem to be any consistency to it.

Expended Universe books, comics etc are not part of the saga and therefore donīt count.

Power goes to thier heads, same as any moderated group, well in my experience anyway, don't take it personally is my advice, either live with it or go to a Newsgroup rather than a bulletin board such as this.

It's true, we should start getting back to the Blu-rays, which is getting closer by the day... I wonder whether there'll be launch parties.

That's not entirely true. If Lucasfilm has decided they are part of the "canon," then they definitely do "count."
