I hope this release won't create as much controversy as The Lord of the Rings Extended Editons, apparent over at that thread. I say, let's just enjoy 'em.

My DVD's are fine, though when I watched them in January I wanted to wait till the Blu Rays for the (hopefully) optimal video presentation. It isn't as long as BluYoda (or you presumably) haven't watched these mesa thinks

Whilst I disagree with your point of view, I acknowledge it nonetheless. It is, after all, a very subjective point as to whether the prequels are "good" or "bad" I love all the movies, and wil be getting the complete set, along with all the extras. Awesome.

Well, since George isn't shoving 9 DVDs into a Blu-ray set, I don't think that's gonna happen.

I really hope everyone will be happy with their release (OOT notwithstanding and it is frustrating), because I'm certain to be happy with mine. If you're a fan, you're a fan, no judging based on which of the trilogies you like. I respect everyone for their likes.

it is a marketing thing. same reason why they sell you the individual seasons of a show individually and then include an extra disc when they release the whole series. i am a little surprised that the extra disc wasn't included in the individual sets - push them as 5 disc collections and then a 9 disc mega-collection.

I guess I'm less of a "true" star Wars fan and more of a fan of truly great movies then, because I can't stand the new ones either. Just merely taking place in the SW universe isn't enough to magically make a mediocre movie great, the prequels are proof of that.

ahh..well Im glad to be a fake fan then. I mean if I were a true fan that would mean I am a fan of bad acting and movies that revolve around special effects just for the sake of having special effects!

But I guess these butchered OT discs will have to suffice until Lucas comes back from the land of moron and realizes that the only films most people care about are the UOT.

j/k

Well, the DVD versions had color-timing issues, and that's kind of what the controversy is over Fellowship of the Green (ahem, Ring).

So I suppose if the color-timing is the same on this Blu-Ray as the DVD, then yes we would probably see the same thing on this thread.

But really, this thread already has way more arguments and controversy than LotR anyway, what with all the UOT, lack of extras from the DVD sets, and horrible/awesome packaging art talk. If a transfer argument gets out, this thread will literally explode.

It would be so classic if these things were DNR'ed to death, then not only would you have the Real Fans vs the Fake Fans you would have the DNR people jumping in as well. I will say one thing, it sure would be entertaining.

I see we have come full circle and are arguing the true fan angle again.

Any way, maybe someone can shed some light on something for me. Was the same mold of Vader's helmet used in Empire Strikes Back also used for Return of the Jedi? For some reason, aesthetically speaking, the design of Vader's helmet just looked the most bad ass in Empire yet seemed slightly not as cool in Jedi. I know they used a new design for Sith (which I didn't really care for). Of course, the answer could be I am noticing the way he was filmed in Empire versus Jedi. Either way, just curious. It doesn't get more nerdy or nitpicky than this question, I know.
