I'm not 100% but that Ewan McGregor footage is a good few years old, as if I remember he doesn't have the mole on his forehead anymore as it's been removed for health reasons. It's quite common to show unremastered footage with newer interviews.

The Blu-rays will feature 46:10 minutes of deleted and extended scenes for Episodes 1-3 and also about 47 minutes for Episodes 4-6.

I got the info from the website of the German movie-rating organization FSK. The information is pretty legit.
Hereīs the link: http://www.fsk.de/index.asp?SeitID=4...itel=star+wars

Does anyone know how long the deleted scenes on the DVDs were?
But no Empire of Dreams and a buch of other useless extras instead...

I suspected as much. So, I certainly won't judge it based on that. As for people complaining about "useless" extras. The answer is simple, don't get the damn set then. Not once in a million years did I expect every single bit of Star Wars to be included in the set, and yes, a few other things may have been included, but I'm certainly not looking forward to months of complaining on this thread.

Empire of Dreams was great, but it sadly could have been SOOO much better.

Rumor is that an hour of footage got cut out of it that Sir Lucas didn't approve of.

With all due respect, Lord of the Rings is not the same as Star Wars, and I couldn't give a damn whether you guys agree with me or not. I'm holding for an excellent release, and you are all free to complain for the months to come and for the years after.

Sure it is...to a generation of film goes it is exactly the same as the OT. It was not the PT that was so great to that generation it was LOTR.

An arguable point of view tbh. I loved LoTR, but I loved the PT as well.

Thatīs right... there has to be a negative side to everything.
Having said that, I also would have loved to see better documentaries on the discs instead of "Spoofs" and most of all "Star Warriors" which I will not watch even once.

But weīve been through all that... so Iīm just happy about the amount of deleted scenes.

Thank you. This is the ONLY thing I'm excited about for this release. I would pay $200 for those alone. I'm hoping the trailers will be on there as well...in HD.

I think...

A) Calling the OT sequels is a retcon at which even The Creator would balk.

B) Your deleted scenes theory is interesting. Just the changed scenes would be interesting but a sort of 'A/B featurette' could be very interesting.

I feel the same way about Star Warriors but totally disagree about spoofs. Or maybe provisionally disagree is more accurate....I don't know if it will be good but I do think it could be. The degree to which films become part of the cultural shorthand can be really interesting and looking at various spoofs, references and take-offs could be a really fascinating way of exploring that.

If I were to make a Star Trek or Star Wars documentary that would be one of the first angles I would consider.

I think youīre wrong there. You really canīt compare LOTR to Star Wars. You might as well through Matrix, Pirates of the Carribean or Spider-Man in there.
They are all successful franchises but canīt match the creative impact Star Wars has. Besides, LOTR isnīt even an original movie trilogy but an adaption which isnīt as good as the books it is based on .

You knew what I was talking about, didnīt you? Also they are the Sequels to the Prequels technically. Iīm not a fan of the OT expression since the Prequels are an Original Trilogy in itself. Letīs call them Episodes IV - VI and we are all happy... all except Cowboy maybe

TESB and RotJ were sequels to Star Wars. None of the three were sequels, technically or otherwise, to Episodes 1-3.

Really? I'm sure Lucasfilm sees things differently.

Really. A sequel is a work of fiction that continues or expands upon a previous work.

Previous. Not subsequent.

A film made in 1977 is in no way, shape, manner or form a sequel to films made more than twenty years later. If the fine folk at Lucasfilm see that differently (and I seriously doubt they do) then they are wrong.

Why call Episodes 1-3 the prequels, then? Do 4-6 not continue and conclude the story of 1-3?
