I can live with all the changes as long as the lightsabers in the OT get fixed!!! My opinion is the UOT should get restored, an unaltered restoration, then George can change whatever he wants in his SE. Hell he can reshoot 1-6 if he wants, just as long as he releases the UOT first then play with everyones emotions later

If only there was a time machine and we could somehow bring the internet and blu-ray back to the year 1995...

I agree with this. One of the major faults of the Special Editions is he updates some effects while ignoring others and what we are left with is a weird hodgepodge of effects that don't quite jive well together. Why not restore and release the UOT and then do a complete balls-to-the-wall Special Edition that updates all the effect to match the PT?

Agreed.

I think that a total reboot of it would not only be incredible and FINALLY link both trilogies TOGETHER, but would also be a GIGANTIC 'cash-cow' because everybody and his brother would go see it(hundreds and hundreds of times)...

...as long as the UOTs get remastered, then everybody on a Star Wars forum would be:

.

That's all Im sayin..give me the UOT in HD and George can go to town doing whatever he feels is right for the force. Unless of course he changes the color timing.....and it looks Teal!

Somebody already beat him to it

If only George would stop being so stubborn and restore the OUT in full HD quality, then it would go a long way to bridge the divide that his treatment of the OUT has caused amongst fans. You can bet that most of the complaints about the SE's would disappear as we would then have a choice as to which version we can watch. This is something we don't have now and the more he forces the SE's down our throats, the more we will fight back.

Crickets...

Do you... do you think we ought to tell Ady about how fan edits are a lightning rod for controversy on this board...? No? He... he probably already has that figured out? Okay...

Back to the crickets...

The SE of the OT are good their is nothing wrong with them. They are GL's films he can release them anyway he want's to. Do I wish the cut's of the UOT was out on blu-ray? Yes but I am not going to be upset over it and dwell on it. It is the way it is.

You haven't heard the news? Instead of doing the sensible thing and just restoring the original Han/Greedo scene to the film, Lucas had ILM "fix" the scene further to show how Greedo could have missed Han while having him point blank across the table. On the new Blu-ray, Han now has a CG leg which bumps the underside of the table, sending Greedo's shot offline...

Somebody joked about a reboot and my initial reaction as a Star Wars nut is NO WAY NEVER. But after watching some of the recent reboots turn out better than the originals, and being obsessed enough to even be into Ewoks and Droids, I am not thinking I would LOVE a reboot just for a chance to see more Star Wars movies. Just get Michael Bay to direct and we are all set.

Please tell me this post it meant as a joke. You had me going up until the Michael Bay comment.

No I was dead serious I love Michael Bay and Star Wars and I just figured if anybody remade it he should. I mean yeah the obvious nerd choice would be James Cameron but I don't want him touching it.

Got an email response from Lucasfilm today...

-----

Dear -----,

Thank you for your recent e-mail. We are as excited as you about the release of the Star Wars Saga on Blu-ray Disc! It will be great to be able to watch them at home (or anywhere else for that matter) in high definition with high quality sound to match!

While “From Star Wars to Jedi: The Making of a Saga” and “Empire of Dreams” won't be included with the BD set, there's a ton of previously unseen material that will featured on the bonus discs; the list from the press release is only a top line, bird's eye view of the comprehensive materials that will be included, and isn’t necessarily reflective of them in their entirety.

Discs seven and eight, in particular, highlight a cornucopia of behind-the-scenes material and footage. Even though the vintage docs aren't included, those two discs alone are steeped in archival goodness.

Thanks again for taking to time to write. May the Force be with you!

Connie

Old news but a confirmation of sorts for those wondering/hoping, as I was, if somehow "Empire of Dreams" and "From Star Wars to Jedi" might end up on disc 8 since they weren't included on the "Documentaries" disc.

The answer...No.

I was 99.9% sure of the answer already as you wouldn't leave two comprehensive documentaries off a disc entitled "Star Wars Documentaries" and bury them on another disc. On the other hand, I figured that it couldn't hurt to ask.

I guess it's more appropriate to give us almost four hours of spoofs, costumed fans, and a so-so History doc instead of the 4th OT "making-of" doc and "Empire of Dreams", not to mention other obvious material available to them. It makes no sense to me.

I sent a follow-up email. I'll post any response that I get.

Well, it's sad for the classic documentaries, but I was prepared.

I gave my DVD movies to my brother and kept all the Bonus Discs since he doesn't care about them (and it was free anyway!!)

- Episode I, Episode II, Episode III (Made a cool 3-Disc cover for that)
- Star Wars Original Trilogy Bonus Disc
- DVD with all the Laser Discs Special Features
- The Story of Star Wars Bonus Disc
- The R2-D2: beneath the Dome Mockumentary
- The Bootleg Star Wars Holiday Special

And made an unofficial "The Saga Documentaries" on 2 discs with:

- The making of Star Wars (1977)
- Making of the Empire Strikes Back (1980)
- SP FX: Special Effects - The Empire strikes Back (1980)
- Star Wars: Music by John Williams (1980)
- Return of the Ewok (1982)
- Classic Creatures: Return of the Jedi (1983)
- From Star Wars to Jedi: The Making of a Saga (1985)
- Entertainment Tonight: Skywalker Ranch Tour (1992)
- Star Wars: The Magic & the Mystery (1997)
- Star Wars: The Magic of Myth (1998)
- Omnibus Star Wars (1999)
- The Mythology of Star Wars (2000)
- Star Wars: A Long Time Ago (2003)
- When Star Wars Ruled the World (2004)
- Science of Star Wars (2005)
- Star Wars: Feel the Force (2005)
- Star Wars at 30 (2007)
- Star Wars Tech (2007)
- The Legacy Revealed (2007)
- And Some Deleted Scenes not on the DVDs...
