There is a 1980 ESB documentary that has never been released (It was transmitted in the UK only once) by Michael Parbot that would have been a more appropriate special feature to add on these discs instead of the rehash of old stuff. There is an edited down Dutch narrated version of it available on Youtube:
http://youtu.be/F-hkoHeKees

There is so much stuff that we haven't seen yet a whole disc is full of already available docs, a spoofs doc and one about a costuming group.

I agree and not putting the doc's like from star wars to jedi the making of a saga and the empire of dreams doc's on the blu-ray box set is a disappoinment. Also we know their was a ton of behind the scenes stuff and doc's shot for the prequel films like the beginning , from puppets to pixels and within a minute etc. Their can't be a short change of behind the scenes stuff for those films.

Although I donīt agree with you on that one I appreciate your peacefulness. Who knows, maybe the theatrical editions (I hope people donīt also want all temporary versions from 78, 97, 2004 etc) will be out on BD someday in some sort of nostalgia edition featuring old docs like "Star Wars to Jedi".

Iīm really glad the theatrical Editions are not included in the Blu-Ray set which is coming out soon... just my opinion. I grew up on Star Wars in itīs pre-special edition incarnation but really prefer the Special Editions. I already got the theatrical versions on DVD which is more than enough for me. Iīm not happy with every change that has been made in the SE but they are still way better than the theatrical editions in my opinion... and therīs nothing that canīt be fixed in a future (maybe BD) edition. After all they are not my movies and when Iīm watching them Iīm interested to see them the way the filmmakers intends.

There has been some discussion on more enhancements for the BD and probably final editions. I have no idea to what extend the movies have been enhanced but Iīm pretty sure there are at least some modifications. This 20th century Fox statement has been posted on Bluray.com a while ago:

The remastering of the movies has been performed by Lucasfilm and will offer "the most recently updated versions of the movies," with "even more enhancements to the picture quality." When asked about Fox's answer to the fans that want to see the three original versions released, Marcais replied: "The versions that are being released are closest to George Lucas' vision. Other than that, no comment."

Agreed I prefer the special editions of the original trilogy as appose to the theatrical editions. They look much better and come September 16th the films on blu-ray in the box set will look and sound the best they have ever been.

Nope, 2012 is TPM in 3D and then each year the following Episode as long as they are succesfull enough. So it is probably end 2017 that your going to see a 3D Boxset

- The Bootleg Star Wars Holiday Special

- Star Wars: Feel the Force (2005)
- Star Wars at 30 (2007)
- Star Wars Tech (2007)
- The Legacy Revealed (2007)
- And Some Deleted Scenes not on the DVDs...

Look at the list you posted and add the Parbot doc that adywan mentioned and even the George Lucas: Creating an Empire A&E Biography. Now look at what we're getting on disc 9 of the Blu-ray set and what we're not getting.

It's really a head-scratcher, in my opinion. Look at what's available to them and they use almost 4 hours on spoofs, costumed fans, and the Star Wars Tech doc, yet leave off a wealth of material on what should have been an archival, ultimate set. The storage capacity of BD-50's and BD-25's gave them the chance to really give us everything but the kitchen sink, so to speak. It would have been nice to see an affordable Blu-ray set for the casual fans and an ultimate set for the hardcore among us.

I agree. Everything you mentioned in your post should have been on the set. Even without giving us the long-desired ultimate set that will never come, they could have substantially improved this release with the addition of a 10th disc.

Useless to talk about since it's already set in stone, but here goes anyway. They should have removed the 501st doc, Spoofs, and Star Wars Tech from disc 9. Put "Empire of Dreams" and "From Star Wars to Jedi" in their place where they belong. Add a disc 10 and put the three PT docs you listed on it. Whether one likes the PT or not is irrelevant. I don't care much for it but it's part of the BD saga set so including its best docs does make sense. Use the remaining space for anything else- either OT material(my personal preference), PT material, some of the things I suggested removing from disc 9, or an all new documentary. The 501st doc should have been a separate release, store exclusive, or available only through StarWarsShop.com or the 501st, not taking up almost 1.5 hours on disc 9.

I just watched the OT (2004 version) on my blu-ray player and HDTV and I was surprised how well it actually looked. My player did a great job upconverting the picture. There were lots of fine details and scratches could be seen on R2's dome and such. It really amazed me since I hadn't watched it on my HDTV before (I'm just trying to imagine how much better the BD will be ). Of course when I threw in the Bonus disc (with the original version) it looked like a VHS copy, lol.

Uhh...sorry but that's just ridiculous.

If you don't like it, fine. But it's not going to HURT anyone by including it. In fact, it would make a lot of TRUE FANS happy. So why would you, not only, be happy about it not being including but also be against it?!?

As long as you get your precious versions, why would you WANT to deny other people of the original versions?

I just don't get that at all. Why would you care? That point of view seems pretty selfish to me....The UOT is how a large portion of Star Wars fans remember thier beloved films and how they want them. It's people with this opinion that keep this argument going....

Star Wars, it seems, can bring out the best and worst in people. It's as simple as that, and this September release might just highlight that. For me, I'll be watching internal chronology, 1-6, then do the bonus discs in order as well.

Come on man! The previously seen spoofs!! You can't touch them! They're going to be hilarious! There's probably going to be nothing that in any way is seen as a jab at GL though in the spoofs. I liked the one they did on the Simpsons where the at-at walker broke into the senate building and put on reading glasses before reading attendance, and Jar Jar was smoking up.

What is more selfish... to respect a filmmakerīs work and have him decide in which way he wants to show his movies to the public or to insist on having them shown the way you saw them for the first time?

I just donīt see how the theatrical editions could possibly fit into the "Complete Saga" Set. It just my opinion.
By the way... art is not democratic. The artist has and should have the final word.

Very true. And we must remember that without GL we would not have ANY version of these films. But we look at great collections like the Blade Runner set which has what 5 versions of the movie. I'm all for having GL customize the movies to his exact liking; but throw your millions of paying fans who want the UOT a bone and give them the option to purchase the different versions! 3 versions would be perfect - the original theatrical version, the special editions, and the new blu ray cuts. If nothing else it preserves the other versions which are very historical and it would make a lot of people VERY happy.
