The bottom line is we all like star wars. We should not be arugeing about which version of the films are better the Special Edtions of the OT vs the original theatrical versions of star wars they are all good. And also we should not bash the prequel films of episodes 1 , 2 and 3 yes they have their flaws but they are enjoyable films. Bottom line is we all like star wars and yes people do have different opinions about it but in the end we all like star wars. And come this September when the complete star wars saga it will be the biggest release in the history of the blu-ray format.

Can we get back to discussing something relevent to the release and not get back into to the UOT drama.

The horse has been beaten to death, it's dead, burry it.
Get to the acceptance phase of the grief cycle already

I would loke to own all versions including the UOT on BD. Butkeeping this thread gyrating on the complaints will not get it.

Hopefully down the road we will. But what is the real point of the continued complaining..is it just to complain. If that is the case can you at least find something else to complain about.

As long as there are 2 star wars fans on the planet (or 1 fan and a computer), there will be a pointless UOT debate.

People can bleat on and on about how they don't like the SW changes, and that's fine. What I don't dig is people using the 'it's historical' viewpoint, because I'd wager that many of the same people wouldn't piss on the theatrical versions of the LOTR movies if they were on fire.

No, the circumstances of the different versions aren't nowhere near the same, but it simply boils down to one group of fans disowning one set of record-breaking, Oscar-winning theatrical versions, and the other group of fans crying out for them.

When Lucas' cronies look out over the internets and see all the complaining and general bullshit about the theatrical versions of LOTR (e.g. hundreds of negative amazon reviews BEFORE the product even streeted) is it any wonder that the theatrical editions of Star Wars get such short shrift?

God bless the internets.

Not necessarily. Peter Jackson considers the theatrical versions of the LOTR films to be director cuts. The Extended versions are meant to be supplemental material for people interested in the films. In other words, the reverse of what Lucas did when he released the OT and the AOT on DVD a few years ago.

However, I think most hardcore LOTR fans enjoy the extended versions over the theatrical cuts. The causal fan probably doesn't care, just like in the case of Star Wars.

Um, where did that shot of Yoda come from?

Um, that shot is a BIG FREAKING DEAL if that's legit.....

If he replaced Yoda in the Original Trilogy, my whole mantra on this issue changes IMMEDIATELY....

It's a fan made one

But there has been talk that George had approved tests shots of a CG replacement Yoda for ESB for the Blu-Ray/ 3D versions. If he feels that it works then the original puppet is getting replaced. And this came from a reliable source, not some fan.

adywan,

Well, I remember either hearing or reading that George would never replace Yoda in the Original Trilogy out of respect for Frank Oz's performance.

I'm a big fan of 95% of the Special Edition changes. But, he can't replace Yoda. That's the biggest NO NO in my book....

adywan,

Actually, it was Rob Coleman on one of the commentaries about not having the Original Trilogy Yoda replaced.

True, George has said that he will leave the Yoda puppet in Episodes V-VI alone. But he did replace it in Episode I, now that I don't mind.

EDIT: Jumpman, not sure about Rob Coleman on the commentary, but I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that George has also said the same thing.

Do you think the Yoda insert-clips are out of the blu-ray master? Although I posted the image earlier I donīt think Yoda will be fully replaced digitally... except for Episode1 I hope. If theyīd do it correctly I wouldnīt be strictly against replacing him, but itīs not necessary in my opinion. As long as they donīt do these horrible lip- and eye-squese effects that were done in the in that "SW revisited" fan-cut I saw on youtube Iīm fine ;-).
