Who said the release was going to be crap? I'm very happy i'm getting the films on bluray. I just want some new content on the extras...not the same old thing again. I wanted new audio commentaries and i'm not getting them, but it's ok. star wars on BD is going to be great. I'm gonna buy them.

Fair enough. New audio commentaries would be sweet though. To be fair though, I didn't get the DVDs, not sure what extras, if any are on those, so I'm just really going by the BD, which seems a pretty comprehensive release to me, although there could be a bit more.

Given the demand of this set, I highly doubt they'd screw up the transfers otherwise the world will explode. At the bare minimum, the transfers should be very good, if not excellent. At the maximum, perfect.

Archival Audio commentaries? lol. Farid, I meant new recorded commentaries...not rehashes of the same old. We never got a commentary by harrison ford in the DVD's or Mark Hammil. Just old Ben Burtt talking about Darth Vader's breathing...

yeah that's kinda pathetic. isn't it like 19 minutes or something? We get some documentary about the 501st? does anyone care? I see these guys at conventions all the time, love em trust me...but some of them go to far with the costumes...I go to comic con and I dont dress up. So why do we need an hour documetary about them in the set???

They should have put in the Star Wars Holiday Special. something the fans like me really want. I saw that as a kid on TV and loved it.

Anyone who thinks they even might get the Holiday Special is out of their mind. That will never see the light of day.

Like it or not, that's true. George once said he would smash up every copy of the Holiday Special if he could. I didn't like the Holiday Special, but if anybody else did, that's great. HS won't be on this set as long as Lucas lives.

Here I highlighted the stuff I don't care about...Spoofs that make fun of star wars I really, really hate. I met Seth at star wars celebration, both of them. the star warriors doc..who cares. I see that everyday. the rest i've seen.

Thats fine. I still enjoy my VHS pirated movie that I got at the comic con. And note that i'm against piracy 100%. But I just had to buy this..it's a bad recording from television when it aired. looks like garbage. It's the only tape I paid money for.

Fair enough I still need to finish it completely, but I didn't really like what I saw. Each to their own, though.

I would say 50% of that list is basically wasted filler. He could have done so much more.

Lol I see what you're saying now. I wouldn't mind these alongside the other documentaries, but alas, we have to live with it.

I agree.

I don't think recording a commentary with all three stars is insane. Or even Anthony Daniels, since he worked on all 6. Yes Harrison is reluctant to talk about it, but if George really asked and he refused, that would be kind of douchy after all these years and all the fame it helped him build.

They really scraped the bottom of the barrels - that "Star Wars Tech" doc is pretty bad (though the Star Trek one is worse), it's just is a cheap History channel production. And like someone said above, I could do without the "fan" stuff. I am a fan, I don't need to see others, LOL.

Either the deal to include Empire of Dreams (uncut) hasn't been made yet, or they are saving it for the next set. That's the biggest tell here, not to mention the fact Berman admitted it at the announcement.

Yeah, it just seems like really long filler. The 501st thing is worthy of maybe a 7 or 10 minute extra, and chances are (though I fully admit we don't know yet) the parody one is going to end up being large chunks Family Guy and Robot Chicken, which they only need a few seconds of; if someone wants them they probably already have them, and if you don't have them a few minutes of each would be enough to let you know to seek out the whole or not.

Like many, I'm buying it. I'd even pay the current Amazon pre-order price - though depending on when we see how the discs are housed, I don't know if I will get it from Amazon UK or US. I have it pre-ordered at both and decide when I see the inner packaging pics leak. I'm just happy to have the films in HD. I can see myself going through these extras once, at most, though, when I was (and am still hoping for, that things may be included as yet unannouced) expecting something more like the Aliens set.

It's not that the included stuff is awful, but there isn't a whole lot of "AWESOME" either - it would have been great in addition to "AWESOME" but on it's own seems like a "last of the remnants of the really good stuff they stick on the back of the set".

People seem to be getting pretty worked up over this release, maybe you should remember that there's still discs 7 and 8. We haven't really been told what we're going to get on those at all.
