Instead he's supposed to be barely into his fifties by the time of the original film. Nice one George.

Still, Lucas has been winging it since the very beginning, never mind the prequels. The Vader-as-father and Leia-as-sister reveals are testament to that.

I get the feeling that the OT-PT continuity wasn't ever really important to him. Lucas had all these ideas of what he wanted to do with his shiny new CG technology, and if he provided the bare minimum of backstory then he could fill the screen with whatever useless crap he wanted. That's why I regard the prequels more as loose remakes rather than direct antecedents of the OT.
You are spot on. The story sorta became the special effects in a sense. It was like "hey hey, lookie what I can do, better throw a story around it. It had to be that way just because so many plot holes. I mean its not too hard to sit and watch the OT and fit the films to them. Everyone can admit the plot holes are huge in places. Maybe in the new versions coming to BD he went back and smoothed over everyting. It would at least be nice for the continuity of the story to flow better.

Ok, I see.

Yes, if you are not interested in how things were done, or the COUNTLESS sets they built for the PT, than this book is not for you.

Looks awesome! I also hope they will use some of this stuff for the final versions, although with more detailed renders.

So, I don't "like" the prequels because i support everything GL does - I rather support GL because I happen to like what he did with the prequels. And if there were no prequels I wouldn't be such a Star Wars Fan as I am today. If he hadn't finished his story I would still love the old movies but they would be fossils of the 80s together with Ghostbusters, E.T. or Poltergeist and wouldnt have the significance they have today for me.

It's hard to imagine alternate prequels directed by others that would possibly be better because i love them the way they are. All the Prequels are just as good as TESB and even better than ROTJ in my opinion. So i can't follow your logic. I don't really see the big difference between the 6 movies. There are differences in themes and in tone, sure - but the writing, acting and directing is really on the same page.
This.

that's interesting - Ben is going to be coming out yelling "Hey you, what are you doing there? Leave that boy alone!"

honestly, it is a dumb idea for one simple reason. the Tuskens were obviously not afraid when Luke arrived since they attacked him. why would a human yelling scare them? yeah, i know they are easily scared but that is just too easy.

For me it was a beautifully shot and edited scene.

Something that you would expect Clint Eastwood to do in a Sergio Leone western.

It just looks idiotic now. What a waste.

But maybe we will just get lucky and see Lucas restore this back into the upcoming Blu-ray.

That will never happen. Even if Lucas changed his mind and decided he liked it the original way, I don't think he'd change it as he wouldn't want to prove the fanboys who've *****ed for nearly 15 years right.

As you can see here Lucas has a sense of humor about the issue. I think he doesn't care that much who shot first... Maybe he lets Han shoot first now to end the debate. It doesn't really matter. In any case Han wins and Greedo dies. So, what's the big deal.

I would understand if Greedo would shoot himself in the S.E. or if Greedo got shot in the back by Chewbacca. That would strike me as odd too. But what everybody is talking about... Who shot first? Really? Is this stuff important?

The scene is edited exactly the same. They have just cleared that insanely large smoke-cloud from the original release - so you can see that someone shoots AT ALL!

It's a Lucasfilm image from Amazon.co.uk. I can't believe only one person has made a comment on it, the booklet looks great as well Lucasfilm seem to be pulling out all the stops for this release!

They look like slim amaray cases or something thin and blue anyway. Not like the US set. Individual slim cases for the UK? I wouldnt mind that

The box art and the packaging look great and the disc art looks good. Can't wait for the release of the saga blu-ray box set on September 16th. I also hope the release back here in the U.S. is very good that is if the packaging and disc art is the same as the U.K. release if it is it will be very close.

I think they're the same book style packaging we saw for 24 DVD's and the Alien Quadrilogy DVD set (there are nine trays), they do look like slim cases though. I think there's a chance the booklet will be included as part of the packaging in the US release and not as a separate item. If the US set is similar to the US Alien Anthology BD set but that's just speculation on my part.

I like the disc art as well it's nice to see Chewie getting his own disc though Boba Fett would have been cool.
