Well hopefully for the fans that are buying these this is just rumor and not what is being released. I would not want to be anywhere near this thread if it is ever confirmed that it was the 2004 transfers as this thread will literally blow up.

Here is an article on an App for your iPad or iTouch (comes out tomorrow the 20th) that gives you some exclusive previews of what's coming on the blu-ray sets. Check it out:

From this master they create the HDTV master and the blu ray master.
So at any time is possible to change a video features.
Link? Source?
That would be good news, and less reason to worry.

Right now, I am really trying my best to keep my expectations as low as possible.

I am afraid the OT will never be the way I like it, but I have seen them o many times already anyways, so it's not that big a deal.

I trust the PT will absolutely rock on BD, and that's what matters to me most.

In the BD app, if that is any indication, there is still the puppet Yoda, so I won't hold my breath for any further and final enhancements.
Thanks to all the "fans" who complained non stop, so now we will have to live with half finished movies forever.

many times that would be correct, but unfortunately this wouldn't be the case with the HD transfers Lucasfilm did in 2003/4 . They started off with a raw transfer, did the colour timing, then cleaned it up a little and only once all this was done did they pass it onto Lowry to do the clean up process to remove all the dirt and scratches and reduce the grain. Once this was done the 2004 additions were done. So they can never use this cleaned up transfer and go back to resolve the crushed blacks and redo the colour timing. It just can't be done. They would have to go back to the first stage and use the raw capture, but this would mean going through the whole clean up process once again and redoing all the tweaks and additions done for the DVDs, which i really can't see them doing when George thinks there is nothing wrong with the way they looked in 2004. Here's a small section of one of the only articles about the restoration work done for the 2004 DVDs:

Quote:
“We’d done a lot of work on the films prior to going to John(Lowry),” he says, “re-mastering them in high-def, down-converting them into standard def, and re-color timing them. We actually took a cleaning pass through Industrial Light and Magic, as well, but then ultimately took them down to John(Lowry) to make them pristine.”
And here is the full article:

I don't see anything wrong with them, so I imagine I'll be content if the ones I have are used for the BDs (as long as there is an upgrade in sound and video). Then again, I'm a guy that found nothing wrong with the Gladiator BD and LOTR BDs. Perhaps my eyes suck, my system sucks, or both.
When luke "jumps" down the Bespin shaft, does he scream like a little girl?
If yes - 1997 / Original DVD.
If no - all the better...second DVD release

Luke doesn't scream in any of the DVD releases, first or second. The fact that he removed that bad decision gives me hope for Han shooting first again.

But three months, says Lowry, “given the 600 Macs,” was all he needed: “We cleaned it up, matched scene to scene, sharpened it end-to-end, reduced the granularity and got rid of the flicker and all the wear-and-tear things. We ended up with something very nice. They look like new movies again.”
This quote scares the HELL out of me.....

We can hope, but with the track record of Lucas and with every thing I have read, I bet we get this transfer with a couple little tweaks.

LOL

Predator Ultimate Hunter Edition?

The wax is strong with this one.

One of these days, Lucas is going to frakk with these films soooo much that we're just going to get six disks with nothing but a pure white picture.

"But it was always meant to look like white perfection! That's what I was going for all the way back in '77."

As much as I literally yearn for a pristine copy of the original trio I am really going to have to wait and read all the user and critical reviews of these transfers before pushing the button. And frankly that saddens me

I have the theatrical cuts and bastardized versions on DVD that look great upscaled so will have to make do if these BD's aren't up to scratch.

PLEASE, just get these right Lucasfilm, but to reiterate I won't be pulling the trigger until I know the copies are awesome.

The truly sad fact of the matter is that all your hopes are going to be so high, even a 4.5 will be a letdown.

Agreed, although if the originals surpass the upscaled DVD's and are comparative to other older movies with stellar transfers (2001, Dr. No, Zulu) then I will certainly be happy.

I recently bought my first "proper" surround sound system and have refused to play any Star Wars DVD's until I get the BD's as I really want the wow factor upon first viewing....

No, you're probably right, unless it's a reference quality transfer then I and almost everyone else won't be happy...

I suffered for what seemed like an eternity over whether or not to get the EE of the Lord of the Rings, for obvious reasons(I do own it), so I'm too spent on worrying over that to worry about this.

As much as I hate to say it, I'm just going to blind buy the hell out of this one, and just hope for the best.

I mean, come on, it's Star Wars on blu-ray for crying out loud!
