I want to buy the original trilogy, but the amazon reviews talk about bad cuts?
Could somebody explain, what do they mean " bad cuts", will I really notice?

I wouldn't really take much notice of Amazon "reviews". Just wait for this site to post it's review. 'cause right now, no one knows what the discs will be like.

Anyway, US Preorder cancelled. Keeping UK preorder. I'll gladly wait an extra week to get decent protective packaging. I still don't care for the art, but at least the discs will be secure since apparently Fox doesn't think UK folk will fall for the "Blu's are indestructible, so it's perfectly ok to have a machine slide them flat against cardboard" stuff so they don't do that there.

I bought the complete sopranos collection on dvd. I'm sure you are aware that dvds scratch. Anyhow, none of them came scratched and I've yet to scratch them. As long as you aren't a clumsy fool: you should have no problem.

I think the US Set looks much cooler than the UK one. I hope it is the final disc-art because I really like it.

Amazon.UK has also updated their picture of the box-set to this:

I don't know what to do. I HATE the US Alien Anthology. Never bought it. Got the UK instead.

*sigh*

I prefer this one over the UK set, so I am sticking with my pre-order.

The disc art of the UK set has very questionable choices regarding the characters depicted.

I rather have the simple design of the U.S. disc art.

I think most of us will be let down by this release, as our expectations are just too high, and even I was hoping for final cuts, with the latest and greatest CG additions, but I guess that's not going to happen after all.

Well, nothing is perfect after all.

I am still going to love the set, I think.

The USA set is just like the Alien Antholgy with pictures after every disk. I like that one more becouse it has no art work and the disks look all the same

I bought the UK edition of Alien Anthology mostly because it was so much cheaper. But for this one the US edition is cheaper and I like the disc art better. So not gonna cancel my Amazon US pre-order.

Looking at the USA set that cardboard wont last long you have to be carefull when taking the disks out.

It might rip !!

Even though the US artwork is plain, I like it better than the UK disc. The US version has a nice 'clean' look to it (though I would have preferred the old movie posters or something). The UK versions just used all of the wrong pictures on the disc . They could have been so much better (on both US and UK sets) .
But again it won't keep me from buying them.

True - but like who isnt gonna make some custom covers and put these in 6 normal BD cases? I sure am - so packaging is a moot point.

This thread just emphasises' why it is so stupid to have different disc art for the same product in the UK and US.

So the following will happen:

UK to buy from AM UK
UK to buy from AM USA sent to UK
US to buy from AM US
US to buy from AM UK sent to US

The Star Wars saga is complete, the transatlantic saga is about to begin (or carry on, to be more precise)

I like the US art better too, the book is different and nice looking for the US, a stack of plastic long cases with a cardboard outer frame on the Uk set is just dull, seen that with Superman Ultimate DVD and old Aien DVD box. Boring.

The UK version is pretty much the exact same price with the currency conversion: $90.

I actually canceled the preorder I had up for this set. I have been burned too many times (by Back to the Future & Alien Anthology) to preorder anything from Amazon. I have the entire series (including the theatrical cuts) on DVD so I am not in any hurry to get this set.

Now Indiana Jones is another matter - the draw of Indy I will be unable to resist.
