Once he kicks the bucket sadly there will be no more versions what we'll have is what we'll have.
I disagree. Kids are greedy. They aren't going to want to work for themselves and will do anything to make a buck. The OT will be released when Lucas is dead.

I have been reading the posts on my android. Saying that, I think Lucas should make all the changes he wants. I've seen the originals UT, about 300 times already, it's good to make the movies fresh and cool for the next generation. If someone didn't see the originals as they were...then you missed out on history, that's your fault, but don't demand that history is brought to you. History cannot be brought back. The OT as it was at the movie theaters is history and it should stay history.
On the transfers, does it matter? Do all of you have 1080? Because I don't. I watch the movies for the content to be honest with you, not the imagery or the packaging. I like the films because of they are the greatest films of all time! not because they are transferred or modified. thats miniscule to me as I am probaly older than most of you. I paid 94 dollars for the complete saga and got this cool litho, heck i'm happy!
Agreed Well said starwarsagent. I think the issue over the blu-ray transfers has been blown way over proportion. We just have to wait until September 16th and see what the final product will be as far as the blu-ray box set will look like.

I could not disagree with this sentiment any more. Art should be preserved as it was created, not endlessly tinkered with. Lucas himself espoused this sentiment in 1988. This is why he takes such a beating for all his tinkering. It's unbelievably hypocritical.

Just imagine Coppola, Scorsese, Scott, Ford, Leone, all going back and adding CGI to The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, The Good The Bad and The Ugly etc. and "fixing" all the mistakes. Ford going back into "The Searchers" and making the Native Americans friendly, making John Wayne politically correct. Imagine Da Vinci fixing the Mona Lisa's smile. This is what adding Hayden Christensen to ROTJ is akin to. It's like a communist regime changing history books. It's pulling the wool over people's eyes.

If they want to capture the attention of a new generation, make new movies.

I just can't imagine needing to love something so much purely on principle that I would accept anything they decide to change or add to the movies. What if they just replaced Mark Hamill with Colin Farrell because the young generation needs a star they know? Got rid of Lightsabres by ret-conning some giant Halo machine guns in there? Replaced John Williams score with "the hits of today", like Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, and Bruno Mars? You'd still love it, just because it's Star Wars? You like the films because "they are the greatest of all time", sure... well what if they changed them so much they were unrecognizable?

Personally I have to draw the line somewhere.

Also, yes, I have 1080, hence my interest in the Blu-rays. This is a Blu-ray forum, after all, so it's not absurd to expect that everyone posting here has an interest in seeing these (or any) films in the best HD presentation available. If you don't care about 1080p, why not stick with the DVD releases? You don't even have to wait to own them. I can't even imagine why I would ever purchase a Blu-ray if I didn't have a 1080p display.

Seriously?? There is more proof that this release is going to suck than it being great, unfortunately.

That's your opinion my opinion is the set will be a great set sure their will be some stuff that fans wanted but you can't please everyone. The Saga blu-ray box set is going to be great despite what anyone says about it.

I don't actually know what to say about the changes or anything else anymore. Despite earlier posts, I'm actually feeling rather down about Star Wars and this BD release now.

Eh, I am staunchly opposed to Lucas continuing to mess with these films but I am still very excited about this release.

I already know about the changes, all I need to know is if the PQ and AQ in all 6 movies is great. The movies themselves in all iterations are very familiar to me.

Come on, now, do you really believe there's a strong chance that these are new transfers?

I'd say be cautiously optimistic but expect the same problems from 2004 to exist.
I don't see a pink lightsaber... maybe my monitor is wack, because it looks perfectly fine to me.

tbh my mind is now all over the place on this BD release. I'll probably have to find a distraction in the mean time until release day, finish watching some other BDs.

Now that I will agree with the cover art is ok. The concept is great but it could have been done better.

This thread looks familiar, all the jerks seem to have moved from the LOTR thread to this one.

I really don't get why people have to be bullies about their opinions.

Meh, I like the cover art. I don't see a problem with it.

The packaging might be another story, it seems to be kind of convoluted from the pics I've seen, but the actual art on the cover could certainly have been a lot worse. A big collage of every character's face, for example. That would have been worse.

The fact that you simoply refer to it as "bashing" goes to show that you are missing the points of the conerns being expressed.

Everyone here wants this release to be as great as possible. There are some concerns for some people based on what we have seen so far. That is what the point of the matter is. If you are happy with what you've seen, then more power to you. That's not the case for everyone, and it's not bashing to express those concerns. But like always, the same handful of people manage to miss the point over and over again. And you are amongst those people.

Again, we *ALREADY HAVE* proof of what it will look like. You've got no proof that it's going to have any of the previous DVD issues fixed.

If you think that the DVD's looked great, then you're going to have no problems with this Blu set.

However, if you didn't OR if you have any interest in a blu-ray being faithful to the original presentation of the film, then you are going to be sorely disappointed.

I am using the LOTR blus as a distraction....14 hours of walking dude...

That aside, I don't have high hopes for the OT on Blu Ray as I have seen enough to make me question how good the transfer is going to be. Bleh. HOWEVER, I am amped for the PT as I KNOW those are going to look fn great. That one screen cap of TPM on the main site is great. Def looking forward to the reviews!
