That's my preferred viewing order. But for the Saga debut, I'm going to break with form and actually view them in Episodic order.

I'm throwing a Star Wars party and we will be viewing them in the order George Lucas originally intended: 4-5-6-1-2-3. Why else would he have released them in that order if he didn't want us to watch it that way; did he want us to refuse to see the OT until the prequels came out 20 years later?

Agreed. The on in AOTC feels a bit too short. And the one in TPM, well who wouldn't want more of that ?

I find the SFX of the extra footage of a far lesser quality than the rest of the original Podrace sequence. I think it has to with the physics, as they seem unrealistic compared to the original footage. I personally like the Coruscant city taxi scenes (it has some cool shots and the footage isn't that long), though Jar Jar saying to Anakin that he thinks "the Queen is pretty hot"... err right.

That is how I am going to watch them as well. The girlfriend hasn't seen any of the Star Wars films and has committed herself to watching them with me (I am sure there is a trade off for a Rom Com/Chick flick marathon in my future, but I will take that trade). Would prefer she gets to see them the same way I did (surprises in ESB and ROTJ intact). Then again, I grew up on the OT, so that is only natural I go 4-6, then 1-3.

Funny enough, my Nephew is going to watch them in the 1-6 order because his lil 6 year old heart has a man crush on this Captain Rex character in the Clone Wars tv show. Not sure if the character appears in the films (don't think so) but I am pretty sure the younger generation will be watching the PT first as they grew up on it and the Clone Wars show.

Really, I don't think there is any wrong way to watch the films. If you prefer to have surprises of "Oh SNAP!" moments, then OT first. If you prefer to watch a long character study, the PT first. Both ways work.

For someone who has never seen the saga, I advise watching it in this order: 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3.
If someone has already seen it at least once, then the best order would be: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

I don't watch the the show, but there was a Captain Rex in the original Star Tours ride at the Disney parks (voiced by Paul Reubens). Same character?

Having watched all six, including the OUT, I'll go for internal order. 1-6 definitely. About 12 hours worth of films? Yep, not sure I'll make it in one day though, but will definitely try

Yeah, this probably makes the most sense because A New Hope lays out some of the fundamental elements of the Saga, things like the Force and Jedi are explained for the first time. Although I've heard from some people that there kids are more shocked by Anakin becoming Vader than Vader being Luke's father, so for some people I might recommend 1-6.

You may also want to consider watching the blus this order: 4-5-6-3-2-1.
That might be neat because you see the events of the PT backwards but more importantly than all that, this is the viewing order where you see Jar-Jar from least to most.

Does anyone think that the 6.1 DTS HD-MA will sound the same as the 5.1 DDEX on the DVDs?, like as in the mix. Obviously it will sound crisp being that its uncompressed. I wonder if the back channel will sound any different being discreet. I have a 7.1 setup and the dvds DDEX alone sound great being there just 448kbs DD . Finally to have Star Wars in DTS!!!!! Cant wait until sept. 16th.

Well, being lossless it should, in theory, sound much much better. I'm sure it will sound fantastic, can't wait to hear the legendary John Williams' score.

No offense, but I hope you are talking about the sound mix in the prequels? Because they are indeed, great. On the other side, the OT 2004 mix is so just HORRIBLE. Reversed channels, music is sometimes turned down or really quiet, dialogs are inconsistent and the effects are too loud. Sadly, this wasn't a problem in 1997 5.1 mix on the Laserdisc. Only DVD sound mix is so weak.
Even someone, who isn't an audiophile would notice this problems. I noticed it in 2004, even though I had no clue about sound mix back then.

I JUST HOPE that they made new sound mix for the OT on BD. Really. If not, that says all about Lucasfilm and their amateurish job. I also don't understand, why they even made new mixes. 1997 sound mix on laserdisc was perfect. Why bother to do new for 2004 release only to screw it up?

Well, if they put 2004 mix on BD, then in many moments in the OT, you can forget to hear this legendary score, because the was just turned down.

I'm watching 1-2-3-4-5-6, i prefer this order. I remember the first time i did, i got this very different feeling when i first saw Vader in IV. It was more powerful no longer mysterious. Especially the opening scene with him talking to Leia, his Daughter which they are unaware.

Captain Rex in a clonetrooper in blue, he was created for the Clone Wars series. Originally he was going to be named Alpha, until they realized the cast would be: Anakin, Ahsoka, Artoo and Alpha. Too many "A" names, so they went with Rex.

Commander Cody, however, appears in Episode III and the Clone Wars. He's the clonetrooper in yellow.

It should sound better because it's lossless and also for the prequels they should be better because if I understand it, all 3 have DD 5.1EX, but the EX isn't encoded right to where some receivers, if not all, won't recognize the EX surround back channel. In order to get it, you must manually set the EX urself. However, with the OT, the EX is detected but ANH has, as most people say, a flipped track. So, hopefully these things will be fixed, and I have a feeling they will be.

The first time I saw RotS in theatres, I chuckled aloud because I thought I heard Darth Sidious call him "Commander Kernie" and I thought why would they choose that name.
