Have you guys seen the custom cover art people are doing for this? Excellent work, far better than what we are getting.

Oh yeah, as I mentioned I am definitely hoping for the best.

I just remain skeptical because of the amount of times over the course of my lifetime a studio/company whatever has assured me of something, excused past mistakes with things like deadlines, budgets, or other constraints and then repeated those same mistakes identically in the future. They pay lip service to the vocal minority and then quietly serve up a product that will satisfy the silent majority and still make them loads of money. They know the most vocal, fervent fanatics will probably still swallow their bitterness and buy the product anyway, so really it's a win-win.

I really hope they give us the best product we can get. Lucas is an obsessive perfectionist, you have to know that he cares about the criticism probably more than almost any other major filmmaker because he constantly goes back to his work and addresses these concerns. They are certainly not rushed for a deadline this time, so if we don't get the best, there really is no excuse.

To be clear, though, I am not in either side of this argument about whether the new xfers will be great or awful. I am sitting comfortably in the middle, and right now my mind is made up to buy the set even if the lightsabers are pinker than raw beef.

I think it's quite possible that Lucasfilm has fixed such glaring errors as the OT lightsabers, but maybe not some millisecond shot of s line/scratch that no one knew about until Adywan pointed it out (from trailer footage, nonetheless).

People are taking existing artwork and putting them on BD templates.

What "we're getting" as you said is original artwork, created specifically for these new BD sets.

It's easy to be "creative" with other people's work. It's a whole 'nother thing to create original artwork, and another to criticize it.

Agreed lots of people are jumping to conclusions and assuming that the same transfers from the dvd will be used. Bottom line is we have to wait until the discs come out on September 16th and wait for the reviews to come out. Only then we will know for sure.

I really hope that if this release is fantastic and awesome, it will bring us all together in it's pure white light of awesome celebration instead of people going "See?! I told you so!" and arguing further. Haha.

I am picturing the end scene of A New Hope, just all of us at the BD release coronation ceremony, as the BD box walks arm-in-arm with Chewbacca and Jar-Jar to the throne to be crowned KING.

Oh wow I am shocked by this, I always thought it was Ray Park speaking.

Yeah, but if they're using the 2004 masters as a base and trying to reverse-engineer out the problems (such as the FUBAR colour and overdone blacks) then we may get a whole heap o' new issues. Oops, I mean "deliberate creative decisions".

No much like David Prowse he has a regional accent, although I think he does speak as Toad in X-Men.

You can call it whatever, the custom work that people are doing is excellent either way.

Seriously, the work done by the others for custom jobs is good, but (again) they aren't doing anything original as far as artwork goes.

I happen to think the actual cover for the saga set is decent. I really like the trilogy sets artwork quite a bit.

You know what I don't understand, how this can have over 200 reviews on Amazon when it's well over a month still away.

Especially gold standard, honest product critiques such as the ** rated:

WHAT YOU READ BELOW IS IN THE UK RELEASE. MY QUESTIONS IS, IS THIS INCLUDED IN THE US VERSION AS WELL???

The Limited Edition Star Wars® Sentiype(tm) contains a unique 35mm film frame reproduced from the original film footage using state-of-the-art imaging and printing techniques. The film frame is mounted on premium quality paper and features original artwork from the Star Wars Blu-ray collection. Each Senitype(tm) is numbered for authenticity.

Just wtf.

i agree, the new artwork is awesome. the complete saga sums it up perfectly, Anakin and Luke. Plain and simple, and like peterthx said its original. it would have been easy for them to just rehash the dvds cover art. i for one am glad its different!!! i love the separate trilogy's cover art as well

i don't understand why people wouldn't get the Blu-Rays just because of the cover art. I hate that cover but that wouldn't stop me getting something if i really wanted it. I'm just going to create a new box with different art for it: problem solved. I do have to admit though that i wouldn't buy it if i wasn't getting it as an anniversary present. The only thing that would sway me to buy it is if they had fixed all the problems with the picture and audio.

The glitch was not to point out anything that needed fixing, but to point out that it was the 2004 master used for the footage.

well the 2004,2006 & prequel DVDs artwork were just hacked together photos done in photoshop. Nothing really different with taking photos and making a cover and some fan using existing artwork and creating covers apart from one is doing it commercially.

Yeah, I fall into the camp of those who like the Saga's box art. If it were any other actor than Jake Lloyd I'd say it's fantastic.

Luke, Anakin, both on Tattooine. Similar beginnings to two different stories, all contained within the box set. I like it.

I'm not talking about those now.

Personally I felt for the prequels (and OT) they should have used the theatrical poster work.

I agree the original poster art for both trilogies is excellent.

I think it's cool that the lightsaber is green in A New Hope. Think about it - that was Luke's father's lightsaber, but his true father is "dead" now per Obi-Wan. Maybe the lightsaber was green for a moment because it was changing owners, or foreshadowing Luke crafting his own green lightsaber?

Regardless of color, it's no match for a good blaster at your side! LOL.
