The only way those DVD's look good is if you are Stevie Wonder. They look worse than my Laser Set or my VHS sets. And where are these people you speak of? I have never in my life on any messageboard talked to anyone that wanted the UOT on DVD that was happy with what was presented to us...not one single person. The rest of your post has nothing to do with the quality of the transfers.

Granted there's the pre-disney version of Star Tours on youtube, but the quality isn't all that crash hot and there's a terrible yellow tinge to it all.

I'm sure they'd still have the original reels for it lying around somewhere.
...because they're probably keeping a boatload of extra material for the inevitable 3D release down the line
Spoofs is nice and good, but when it takes up space for other material that easily could have been added, that's just not right...

What kind of quality AV-wise do you think the deleted scenes will be? We were spoilt with the prequel deleted scenes as they were more or less the same quality as the films they were cut from.

Okay, who's the argument starter now? Ironic much? That's really funny
How is "Star Wars should only be seen as one big saga" supposed to be starting an argument? That's a given!

You forgot one: "There is no OUT because the changes are only enhancements that are adding to the experience and are in fact still the same movies! Let it go!"

I think they will be about the same quality as seen in the trailer. The deleted scenes from the Prequels will look better since they were shot digitally and are simply jounger. I guess the Ep.4-6 deleted scenes will not be scratchfree or feature SFX.

Its a version that does not exist. It's a box set that should have been released this time around with a new master instead of a 2004 version. It's a set that should include all versions in the best possible quality. Its a set that should include real meaningful extras like the "Empire of Dreams" documentary instead of garbage fluff. It's a set that should show the importance of all the major players even those that had as much to do with The success of the OT as Lucas himself. Its a set that as long as GL is still alive we will never see....

that box was "wishful thinking" when this thread started

The thread started in May 2010, before there were any announcements about the set.

Sadly, there is no "Unaltered Original Trilogy" set either.

I have one and cannot WAIT to watch Star Wars on it (Spike TV's Star Wars film marathons look decent...but really, no comparison to blu). Use this site's projector forum and you should come by some very good details!

https://forum.blu-ray.com/projectors/

Side note: projectors will make you care more about the transfer of the video as it will make some flaws of overprocessing VERY obvious (looking at you Flash Gordon...), and painfully so. Those DVDs of the UOT that some people claim to be 'good transfers' are absolutely fn awful on a digital projector's big screen. You'll never watch anything in Standard Def again...lol. Have fun shopping around!

No..usually deleted scenes are from workprints and they look like crap. And they're usually "unmixed" (and in mono).

Yep, same here. I've been holding out for Panasonic to announce the successor to the Pt-ae4000u and they just announced the new pt-ae7000u the other day. Also, they announced a September release date so that works out perfect. Hopefully it comes out before the Star Wars set releases. I used to have a projector and there is just no better way to watch Star Wars than with a giant picture.

Correct - Just look at the spliced-in foootage from the Donner Superman 2 cut or The Aliens 3 additional scenes. Yukky.

So it's extremely unlikely that pristine negatives of the deleted scenes still exist? That's a shame. It's not a big deal if they're deleted scenes but when they're put back in the movie like Stargate they stand out like a sore thumb, the Donner Superman II and Aliens 3 we can forgive to some degree considering the history of those two projects.

Does anyone think the RotS scenes aboard General Grievous' ship will have their effects finished? To me at least it always seemed a shame that the scenes didn't have their SFX finished like the other deleted scenes from the first two prequels. Animatics are fun but it would be nice to see the finished product.

I think a lot of people who don't see problems with certain transfers and get upset with those who do simply don't have large enough screens to fully understand what others are complaining about. There are plenty of transfers that look okay on smaller screens, but blow them up a little and they are an eyesore.

The problem with the 2004 transfers is that many of the errors and mistakes are painfully obvious even in low resolution and on small screens. If extensive restoration work wasn't done to fix those problems for the Blu Ray, it's going to be an eyesore for some people. Why some Star Wars fans are okay with subpar quality for this release I will never understand. I want the best for these films and crappy lightsabers as the result of a rushed transfer in 2004 is no excuse for a 2011 release.

Exactly the issue I am having with this release. It was REALLY disappointing to hear/see that they are more than likely using the 2004 transfers. I just get a bit upset when I see that shot of the sabers crossed in front of the Emperor. You don't need anything bigger than a 13 inch tv screen to realize that is F'd up!

i have a question about the box set. well not the complete saga, the other. the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy. is it like a slip cover box? i saw the actual box for the complete saga at comic-con and it looks really awesome. but i'm wondering how the seperate ones are. the complete saga box is really sturdy.
