Industrial Light and Magic did go in and make many technical improvements, most notably color matching on select lightsabers shots. 2. The list of extras for discs 7 & 8 are currently available online! We released all of that information on May 4th. 3. The Blu-rays will be the special editions of the movies.

IMO, the lightsabers were the only things that made me cringe. If that's fixed, the could do nothing else and I'd be okay.

What he said, if true. Now if we can get word that the audio issues have been fixed as well. Why would Lucasfilm comment on these questions via emails they receive, but won't say anything publicly about it? Or are they gonna wait until some press event, closer to the release of the blu's?

The reason is because they don't troll internet forums where people like me obsessively critique the movies. I bet they've received very very few inquiries about it.

I like the color timming on the Revisited version best, everything is too blueish or too pinkish on the 2004 DVD.

No email I've sent (including one a short while ago) has had a reply, and I probably shouldn't get my hopes up for one either, but it's probably something that could be overlooked anyway. For the versions of the films, George obviously feels it's his artistic licence to change they way they look (even after all he's said). Whether or not it's right, is very very arguable, but that's his perspective. Bring on Sept 12.

How can Luke join them though? If we take The Phantom Menace as a guide there can only be two, a master and apprentice. Which one out of Palpatine and Vader was going to retire? I know Palpatine probably saw a chance to replace Vader like he did with Dooku (I guess he regretted throwing the fight with Anakin when he got decapitated) and Vader usurping the Emperor but it's comical when you think about Vader and Palpatine thinking the same thing. Even more so as Anakin's still an idiot....

It's twenty years after Padme bit the bullet and Vader and Palpatine haven't had that conversation?

So, do we take this as an admission that the 2004 transfers
were wrong and not an artistic decision

I made a reply relavent to these two posts, but I posted it in the thread from the movies section as this debate over the rights of the artist/owner vs. public is off topic in this thread.

The BBFC will have re-rated the films for the BD release. Unfortunately, their website will be down indefinitely from tomorrow for maintenance, but the films will be re-rated.

I will believe it when I see a proper screen shot (not fan made..lol) of the Emperor with the crossed lightsabers in front of him. Until then, I will be skeptical. But the e-mail sounds quite promising. Going to e-mail them myself and ask about the audio issues and the blue world of hoth. I doubt I will get a response, but it never hurts to ask.

I agree with this. Even if it was a fan video, it still looked good that way.

While changing the Emperor in TESB to match the other films does make sense, that hologram of him on the 2004 version just never quite looked right to me, with the way his hood is all hanging open and not draping down like it normally does. Also his face is 'fuller' like it is in the PT (since it was filmed more recently), which doesn't work well with his thinner look in ROTJ (which the idea of him getting thinner makes sense since he's an old man by that point).

It could be worse, but it could also be better.

Really hoping Ken's "e-mail" is completely official. From all my months being around this thread, Ken has been a really nice, optimistic guy here. I'll take your word for it Ken, but I'm still not 100% on it considering I don't wanna get my hopes up just in case

Phantom Menace has always been a U. The 2-disc DVD is rated PG because of the deleted scenes.
