Honestly, this has descended into one of the most tragic threads on the internet. A 15 page witch hunt over a standard PR email response from a company. Can you people see yourselves?

I really hoped this thread would be about getting advance info on the releases and enjoying some harmless speculation on the content / quality of the discs but some of the posts just transcend the pathetic

Poor old Ken. Ignore the abuse, cheers for posting. I tell you, on this forum you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villany...

I know it was well before the release, just can't remember when. I was hitting millenniumfalcon.com on a daily basis! Right now that's the only thing we can hope for, since Lucasfilm is officially keep quiet on the technical side of the release.

If memory serves me, the Executor set was a UK-only release. It was loaded with special features. Basically, all the Definitive Collection Laserdisc extras plus the four original documentaries:
  • The Making of Star Wars
  • The Empire Strikes Back: SPFX
  • Classic Creatures: Return of the Jedi
  • From Star Wars to Jedi

Definitely a set that should have been released everywhere. Those extras should have all made the 2004 OT DVD set along with what we did get. They definitely should make the Blu-ray set but the DC extras and "From Star Wars to Jedi" will not, strangely.

I heard it came with 5 hours of extras or so...

But if it only came with 4 tapes, how did they fit the three movies, four documentaries and all of the definitive collection LD extras?

not trying to add more negativity to the thread, but I've read a somewhat concerning comment on the Star Wars website

I've been checking pretty frequently over the last couple of days, so I doubt I've missed a discussion on this issue, but if I have, forgive me

There was a comment posted (see above link) that implies that of the 40 hours of special features included in the Complete Saga set, 24 hours are in the form of audio commentary...

So if 24 of the hours is commentary, we know that the documentaries will run 7 hours in total, leaving 17 hours.

I guess it's still a substantial amount, but I'd never even considered that the 40 hours of special features announced on May 4th would include the audio commentary until reading the aforementioned comment.

Yeah. Lots of studios like to do that. I guess it can't really be called a lie or false advertising, though, since the commentary is one of the special features. I've also learned that when they put the words "and more!" on the list, it usually means "and nothing more".

Yup, 2 commentaries for each movie so 4 hrs. per movie x 6 movies = 24 hours of people talking that counts towards the 40 hrs. of bonus materials. That leaves approx. 16 hours for the documentaries, deleted scenes and other stuff. Unfortunately 91 min. of that is the Star Wars Spoofs feature, another 84 min. is the documentary about the 501st and 46 min. for Star Wars Tech. That's almost 4 hours of stuff I'll probably watch once or not at all so now we're down to 12 hrs. of hopefully good stuff and honestly I don't even know where they'll come up with that much....unless they think people will spend a lot of time navigating through matte paintings and concept art.

In case this has not yet been posted (sorry couldn't be bothered to check) the Blu Ray early access app has finally appeared for download on Iphones and internationally. That was a nice surprise this morning!

I know this is probably nitpicking but seeing that the box art on Amazon of The Complete Saga wont be using the individual box art of either the original, or prequel standalone sets as the inner slip cases, is a bit of a major downer imo.

Looks like I'm going to have to forego the special features for this one, and just buy the OT.

[Show spoiler]

The fact that we post in here clearly show we have no life, even if we try very hard to pretend we have one

Only 6 more weeks before this release. I admit I always been rather patient for most releases, I mean I know they will be coming out so no need to go and stress over it but this one is just driving me nuts I never wanted a date to be here so quickly in my life I think.

It was getting unbearable for me so I started digging out the DVD's and going through the extras I already have, then I had an idea to not only help kill the time but it was inspired by this thread.

Everyone posted their collections and I thought well I don't have as much as everyone else BUT I do have at least the first movie on 4 different formats.

I am going to dig out the old VCRs, warm up the Laser Disc player and re-watch every movie I have on every old format I have to build me up from the low quality VHS, the Laser Discs, the two DVD sets and the HDTV rips so I can progress from worst to best quality all leading up to the Blu Ray, oh it is going to be a lot of Star Wars at my house the rest of this month. At least till school starts hopefully that will pass the time a little faster.

I do have an 8mm projector also I still just might see if I can track down one of those film copies too just for real nostalgia.
