I'm just gonna get the complete saga here. No way am I buying both. I still need to get the extended LOTR, complete Lost series, and Battlestar Galactica. DAMN, I'm gonna have to get a loan from somewhere

Just to chime in on the remastering debate, I pretty sure that they have all been remastered.

I know that last year I happened to be one of the lucky few that got to see The Empire Strikes Back at the Arclight out here in Hollywood, and before the film started they announced that the print we were about to watch was "A brand new digital transfer" and that we were "among the very first to see it."

So I would assume that if they bothered to remaster Empire, and it did look stunning btw, that they would do the same for the other two. But then again, it is Lucas so who knows if we would ever see that print of the film again.

Why'd they change Yoda's voice?! Aw, man, this release is going to suck!!

Very nice shot of Yoda; I hope the full version on the Blus holds up to the hype.

The Ultimate cash grab would be a Blade Runner-esque set for each of the original trilogy movies. I would buy it in a second, an I'm sure many others would as well.

- Original Theatrical Release (Similar to BR Workprint)
- 1993, 1997 and 2004 transfers on one disc (seamless branching)
- 2011 Release
- BD Containing Hi-Def extras
- DVD containing SD extras
How could you have seamless branching if a majority of the film has been tampered with?

The pervasive nature of the cosmetic changes makes branching theatrical and special edition releases impossible but I wonder if branching the various cuts of the special editions (including the ones we're all breathlessly awaiting) would be all that impractical.

I would have absolutely no interest in purchasing them but it is a somewhat interesting hypothetical.

Unfortunately, "fully remastered" doesn't mean much today. Universal's catalog titles are all "fully remastered" and all they do is take the old master and filter it.

But I thought it was just the surround channels that were flipped. I don't know how you can hear this from a YouTube clip.

Take a listen to the youtube clip on the star wars youtube channel and listen to the 2004 dvd release of A New Hope their is a difference you can hear the force fanfare in the youtube clip in the dvd release you could'nt it was drowned out. Does that explain it?

Looks awesome! Yoda was scary as hell in the original TPM!

I'm 100% for the new updated and improved CGI versions. I'm an artist, a very beginner-wanna-be-artist, but I love to revisit old drawing and improve them to fit my new skills. I can understand George Lucas doing that. And when I do that, I really don't seems to like the original who, to my eyes, looks unfinished and simply a sketch of the new real deal.

Now, if I was working on classic movies, I would probably offer them on Blu-ray along the new remastered edition, but maybe George Lucas doesn't like them anymore and tries to hide them, like Star wars holiday!

Anyway, as days goes on, it seems many fans will be happy with the Blu-rays. Maybe someday GL will release the originals movies on BD too, as they did with the letterbox DVD...

It's from the Revenge of the Sith extras. The replacement Yoda on the Blu Ray should be exactly that or better. That test was 7 years ago...

Regarding your questions; 1. Industrial Light and Magic did go in and make many technical improvements, most notably color matching on select lightsabers shots. 2. The list of extras for discs 7 & 8 are currently available online! We released all of that information on May 4th. 3. The Blu-rays will be the special editions of the movies.

Thanks again and May the Force be with you!

New audio mix created in 2007:

I think this indicates that there might be new transfer, or at least fixes being done to the 2004 masters. And we'll get brand new audio mix.
