Just to chime in on the remastering debate, I pretty sure that they have all been remastered.
I know that last year I happened to be one of the lucky few that got to see The Empire Strikes Back at the Arclight out here in Hollywood, and before the film started they announced that the print we were about to watch was "A brand new digital transfer" and that we were "among the very first to see it." So I would assume that if they bothered to remaster Empire, and it did look stunning btw, that they would do the same for the other two. But then again, it is Lucas so who knows if we would ever see that print of the film again. |

I would have absolutely no interest in purchasing them but it is a somewhat interesting hypothetical. |

Take a listen to the youtube clip on the star wars youtube channel and listen to the 2004 dvd release of A New Hope their is a difference you can hear the force fanfare in the youtube clip in the dvd release you could'nt it was drowned out. Does that explain it?

Looks awesome! Yoda was scary as hell in the original TPM!
I'm 100% for the new updated and improved CGI versions. I'm an artist, a very beginner-wanna-be-artist, but I love to revisit old drawing and improve them to fit my new skills. I can understand George Lucas doing that. And when I do that, I really don't seems to like the original who, to my eyes, looks unfinished and simply a sketch of the new real deal. Now, if I was working on classic movies, I would probably offer them on Blu-ray along the new remastered edition, but maybe George Lucas doesn't like them anymore and tries to hide them, like Star wars holiday! ![]() Anyway, as days goes on, it seems many fans will be happy with the Blu-rays. Maybe someday GL will release the originals movies on BD too, as they did with the letterbox DVD... |

So let's see what we have here.
An interview with Matthew Wood: [Show spoiler] An email from Lucasfilm: [Show spoiler] Footage from official website with new audio: [Show spoiler] New digital transfer of The Empire Strikes Back was shown: [Show spoiler] New audio mix created in 2007: [Show spoiler] I think this indicates that there might be new transfer, or at least fixes being done to the 2004 masters. And we'll get brand new audio mix. |
