I was 15 when TPM was in theaters and I believe I saw it about 9 times. AotC was about 6-7 times, and RotS 3 times (College classes got in the way of more viewings). TPM was my record until Fellowship of the Ring came out (14 times in initial release, two extended cut screenings, and one Radio City Music Hall Score performance).

I have no notion of how I managed all that.

There's really no drama when you know how the movies going to turn out even when there's one prequel, but we had to sit through 3 events to learn what we knew was going to happen anyway.

Having said all that, I'll probably keep my 6 BD pre-order and suffer through those 3 bland prequels again. Ha. I love the original 3 though.
Glad I could help and I agree with you, there was so many cool things that Goerge could have done with the PT that could have been good. I wish he could have at least stayed closer to the original plotlines in the OT. I know when I was younger I had a much more intersting back story for Vader and the The clone wars that what he did in the PT.

Thats why I have issues with some of the changes made to the OT. Since the originals came out a decade before, I think the prequels should have been made to fit in with the consistancy of the originals not the other way around.

Your right though the original 3 are amazing and I have loved them every since I was a kid! They are definitly superior to the PT imo. I to will order the 6 bd set though but only because I want the bonus discs.

I've always been disappointed that this never happened. Seems like a *really* cool idea.
That actually would be a very good use of that feature. That would really bring something special to a BD, instead of just making a few selected green screens or animatics part of the special features.

That's the problem. You spent all this time dreaming up what you expected. Of course you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

Especially when at the same time the original cornball films are being placed on pedestals by fans.

And I'm still waiting for this laundry list of "All these Changes" that people keep mentioning that were made to tie into the PT.

Since at best you have one, and that was just to have more consistant storytelling between the chapters.

Vague post is vague.

Tell us the "one" and then I'll be glad to discuss. Unless you just want to be right. Then just continue to be vague.

Why can't Beast and a couple of others like/prefers the prequels. Why should we all like/hate the same movies.

I don't find the prequels to be bad films or tearable like some fans say they are. They are a part of the saga and that's the way it should be. It's complete story / saga both the OT and the PT not 2 trilogy's.

No wonder the mods are block-suspending people...

Look, folks - if it isn't Blu-Ray related, can you take your political allegories and terciary topics to the Star Wars thread the mods created for that purpose? I've been biting my tongue for ten pages now with all the completely random diversions - I don't have to be told twice, why can't you guys take your hallway/water bottle chatter to the appropriate thread designed for that? How many times do the mods have to ask?

(Watch, now I'm going to get suspended again for responding to the nutters)

Well I will agree with you that there is probably no way he could have made it quite as interesting as the way I envisioned it. He could have stayed consitant with the original plot which was that Anakin was originally a good man who was a friend of Obi Wans and was corrupted by the dark side. In the PT he has so much hate and anger in him right from the start. The friendship that Obi Wan descibes in ANH isn't there either. They seem annoyed with each other most of the time. The only time they act like friends is when they are talking about the adventures they have had together but we don't get to see it.

I don't think that is completely fair. The Empire Strikes Back is considered to be one of the best sequels of all time by a number or critics. A New Hope was also a revolutionary film for for the time that a number or directors have cited as being their inspiration for the type of films they made, Peter Jackson is an example.

Whether you accept these changes as something you personally think as a tie in to the PT or not these are some of the issues people are referring to. The fake looking comedic CGI that is added into a scene like Mos Eisley space port scene. Or the fake CGI dance nunber Jedi Rock in ROTJ this fits in more with the mood of the PT than the realism of the originals. The most important change that fans say was made to tie into the PT is the adding of Hayden to Jedi. Which even if you agree with you can't deny was done to tie in with the PT.

Well imo the prequels should have been made to fit the consitancy of the originals not the other way around. Whether you like the change or not Sebastian Shaw being at the end of Jedi didn't ruin the PT consitancy. When I first saw the PT Shaw being at the end of Jedi was all I had ever knew, and it still made perfect sense to me and my family.

Save the drama, we're all adults. You will need the energy for the Jedi masacre that is coming...

Well at best, that's your assumption, not fact...and also, many can (and have) given similar remarks towards those who almost deify the OT, and despise the PT for "raping their childhood". Objectivity and subjectivity often cancel each other out; you can't have it both ways.

Top image is from merlinpants' post (same size as the one from the sw website), bottom image is a screengrab from the DVD slightly re-sized to match.

These kinds of pics are no indicator of how the BD will look. I still await proper 1920x1080 screengrabs...

But the darker hue does fit with the OT dvd release and same anticipated transfer, albeit brightened or fixed in certain shots, for the OT blu-rays.

Why would anyone want to watch any scene with Padme and Anakin in it? Those are some of the most passionless, paint-by-the-numbers performances I have ever seen in any film. Those two had all the fire of a soaked roll of toiler paper. The "love" scenes literally sounded like two high school actors reading directly off of scripts during a rehearsal.

Simply dreadful.
