Keep dismissing Apple TV as well. I just purchased Hunter killer an Apple TV in 4K DV and it rivals any uhd disc I own (about 80). Sound quality is top tier as well. Don’t even compare Apple 4K to Netflix. Pretty crappy comparison. Seriously are you the technician that screwed up the encode? Your unrelenting defense of the indefensible is borderline narcissistic. And yes seriously the weave on the seatbelt. Fine details matter in home theater. If they didn’t maybe we should all go back to dvd. Heck why not vhs for that matter? You have some strange bias that doesn’t make any sense. It’s a free country rocky. You can prefer whatever version you like. What doesn’t make sense to anyone on this discussion is your strange stance that there is no encoding issue. ![]() Last edited by doom4420; 01-23-2019 at 06:00 PM. |

No, the UHD looks overall quite lovely in respects to colors and HDR, especially if you are not comparing it to the Blu-ray transfer, however it is a bit soft.
The Blu-ray has been sharpened a bit and the UHD transfer has been filtered a bit. Although the BR has been sharpened it is not distracting and it does actually have more finer detail that is native to the source and not due to the sharpening. Both transfers do look nice in spite of their respective trade-offs. I cannot speak to the qualities of the Itunes 4K DV version. |

to me it's a win , win. The blu ray is great..the UHD is great. Whichever you prefer or own, it's a terrific presentation. I have the blu ray steel book, the 4K uhd set, and the 2lp clear vinyl set of the soundtrack and yet I wasn't crazy about it when I saw it in the theater...it's one of those that I enjoyed more the 2nd time around at home.

Why are you quoting me? I said nothing of the sort, nor was I talking about EE.

Also some might prefer the cooler color temp of the BD. Geoff's "Ginger Ninja" looks a little better with porcelain skin on the BD IMO. ![]() |
