Just found one at the Livonia, MI Best Buy on Haggerty Road. The difference is stunning. No spine label on top, no two-disc set marker on either the slip or the keepcase cover, but it still had the expired coupon on it. It's the remastered one for sure and they had at least 3 other copies of it on the shelf.

I spotted the new version at a Target store. Don't know how common that was?

Ok, please help guys. I'm not the best when it comes to seeing these differences without something to compare.
All I went on at Target when I went in for Date Night was the 2 disc set above the Paramount label. When I was in Best Buy last week, every copy was marked with 2 disc set above the logo, so I passed. The Target one did not have it above the logo on the slip or the case, but when I got it home I noticed it does still say 2 disc set right below the R in Gladiator on both sides of the slip spine and on the case spine (only can be on one side). So, do I have the new version or did I screw up? Is there anything else to go on to confirm? It seems odd that the BB copies clearly said 2 disc set above the logo and this one doesn't, but someone mentioned nothing on the spine either in an earlier post, so I'm confused and nervous about my purchase. Any and all help would be much appreciated. With love, Veronica |

if you still have it sealed just go to your local store (walmart, BB etc...) get one of the new versions and return the one you got from Amazon using the receipt from said local store

Well my BD player is connected to the Internet with wifi and I had no trailers at all. This release has been a major headache. They should have done the yellow UPC like Private Ryan. Another thing I'm confused about is that talk of sneakiness with this. I agree it's sneaky to an extent, but it's not like there was a marketing campaign for Saving Pvt Ryan with commercials. Plenty of people have the bad copy. But I was just in several stores less than a week ago and there were several copies of the crappy release of Gladiator. Today the only copies in all the stores were the new ones. I don't believe they sold all of those old versions and it does "appear" the bad versions have been recalled. I do appreciate them doing that. |

In fact, when you call Paramount to replace the disc, the first question is whether you have a white or yellow UPC. |

Picked up a remastered copy from Best Buy today (had a RZ coupon). They had three copies, only one of which matched the criteria here, so I picked it up. It lacked the "2-disc set" and the security tape, and the disc had the R2 number (it was the light gray disc). Popped in the disc to test it out, and it definitely was the remastered version (no disappearing arrows

I really do not want to read the entire thread and need a question answered.
Ive had Gladiator since last Xmas...a gift, one of my very first BR's but...have not watched it yet because it was my fav movie ever for many years and seen it soooooo many times I got burned out on it. Now I am a point to watch my BR copy and want to know...what am I looking for that is telltale that it is a "bad" copy to warrant such a long thread? Id likely try an exchange but, as its a gift and I have no receipt... |

The defective copies had a white sticker on top and said 2-disc set on the lower right back of the slip. If you see that, it's the defective copy. |
