No..you didn't. But even if you did... why even bother responding if YOU KNEW I was talking solely about forum members? Nice fail.

I'm not against a replacement plan. I'm against people here that knowingly bought a bad transfer and then *****ed about this new one.

Yeah but that was an iPhone price drop and this was only to save face. If you bought the iPhone two months before the iPhone 3G then there was no discount available. You had to pay full retail for the iPhone 3G and the same goes for iPhone 3GS.

It gets worse for Apple iPod Touch users who get no price breaks or rebates...

Gen1 and Gen2 owners who paid the $10 for the iPod 3.0 software update were not given $5 back when the price dropped for the upgrade.

Gen1 owners who paid the $10 also were not getting the full benefit of the 3.0 update. So you had to buy a new iPod Touch and pay the $10 to use all the new features of the software upgrade.

I guess even Paramount and Universal disagree.

I feel liked I've been robed by buying that first one.
Live and learn I guess.

The quality control people responsible for this should be fired.

first gangs now gladiator. if this is gonna be a god damn trend and more studios think they can cash in on a new better transfer for every movie. i will go mad as hell. And it will be a blow to the sales of blu ray in general if this crap continues.

Im in the same boat. Everytime I go by it in the store I pick it up. Then I have to talk myself into putting it down. This is good news. But they should do it right the first time.

but say these forum members knew there was going to be a new, better blu Ray released less than a year later... Do you think they would have still purchased the substandard copy?

I bought mine from Amazon on black Friday also, but mine had a coupon for $10 rebate if I owned the DVD version, which makes it free, need to get around to sending that in too!

I don't think we should blame anyone who have already bought Gladiator. This is still not confirmed although I am hoping that it will be. There was no mention of a re-master when Gladiator came out.

Personally, from all the reviews I have read and forum posts I felt that the PQ was very inconsistent and that is normally what kills my enjoyment of a film. It is very noticeable for me and takes me out of the film.

I hope there is a re-master and I do blame the studios for not doing the best job the first time. I don't blame anyone who bought Gladiator already for complaining because as far as we knew there was no re-master planned. An exchange program should be implemented.

I bought it because Best Buy had $10 off if you bought it with Braveheart, not to mention I wanted to see for myself how bad it was. Oh that and there was no sign at the time there would be a new transfer. Yes I agree, although this will cost Paramount a pretty penny, they need to give me the new transfer free of charge, minus shipping of the old movie.

Exactly why they should have held off on buying it. If the studios know everyone will buy something regardless of how bad they bungle it, why would they bother to spend money remastering older films? Either way, if they picked it up for $8 after discount, then they're not out by much anyway

Some will (I would have added surprisingly, but nothing about consumers' buying habits surprise me anymore ). For these consumers, the right price will be a greater motivator (and take higher precedence) over a given release's picture and/or audio quality. Some buy with the expectation that maybe, just maybe a rebate or replacement program will be instituted to offset a poor judgment to begin with. Some can live with a lesser quality product because it will be less expensive than the remastered reissue. There are a multitude of reasons as to why someone will purchase an inferior product (attempting to rationalize their decision adds to the factor)

But there has been no evidence of this becoming a trend. While this has happened before obviously, it also hasn't happened that often. The Fifth Element, Gangs of New York, and Gladiator come to mind. I may be missing a movie or two, but I'm sure you get the point. You are getting ahead of yourself and jumping to conclusions because a handful of movies have had to be remastered and re-released. For every Gladiator, there's a bunch of Bravehearts.

I'm glad to see the studios fixing their mistakes, this is a very good thing. My only request that this remaster is the extended cut, that is the only way to watch the film. As long as this release contains the extended cut of Gladiator, I will be adding this to my Blu-ray library.

We will see if i jump to conclusions. Just don't wanna say i told you so when more studios thinks they can profit from this
