Some of you can decide for yourself if interested. I wasn't particularly happy with the BR's quality.
since AVS took it upon themselves to back HD-DVD I would not consider anything they have to say about BD seriously.

Notwithstanding this I really do not trust screenshots. I'll be the first to confirm is this is a rubbish transfer after viewing it myself. I suggest everyone watch it themselves before making judgement.

Its hard for me to believe that someone would take time to intentionally alter a screenshot to prove a point. That my friends would seriously have to be a loser. I know that some people at AVS go to an extreme, but that would be ridiculous. I like both sites, but I lean more towards this site when it comes to actual reviews.

What I posted is a link to a 10 second clip of the arrow scene. I seriously have doubts someone manipulated the video. What I saw with my own two eyes was a very unimpressive Blu-ray.

Also, I would rather not spend money on something that is clearly not so great. I should not have to spend 22 dollars (or 30 in the case of the UK steelbook) just to be able to form an opinion. That is silly.

Believe me, there are people out there like that and are still 100% loyal to the dead HD-DVD

Hey, we are all loyal to some sort of dead being
My posts are limited to few topics.
I only chime in when necessary, but seriously, what kind of a man would you have to be to do those things?
Not the type of person I would want next to me during battle.
I imagine them to be like the scholar that's chained to Hagen during the initial gladiator fight. Pissing their pants during the moment of truth

There is also the rental option. I'm not saying you need to buy it to watch it.

I would not believe anything AVS has got to say about BD. It's run by people who knowingly allowed FUD to be spread by people with an obvious agenda against BD. They have simply lost all credibility and will never get it back until those mods and admin who allowed that crap are removed.

I am believing what I saw with my own eyes from those clips. The BR sadly does not look as good in several aspects as the OAR HD Version. It is disappointing.

I can believe that. Just like there are people out there that are so 100% loyal to Blu-Ray that they honestly believe that there is no such thing as a "bad release".

The format war is dead and gone. We have Blu-Ray and it is a tremendous format. There are wonderful releases on the format and there are some poor releases too.

Braveheart and Gladiator appear to be perfect examples of this. I personally am glad that people call out a release that has issues before I drop my money on it. Now I can rent it first and then decide if I want to buy it.

Based on so many opinions, a lot of you will have to wait. Looks like there will be a VERY LONG WAIT for the BD on Netflix.

That's fair enough but why do you feel the need to convince people who do not trust that site to believe anything that comes from there?

How can actual BD be transfered to clips like this?

If anyone here actually believes any of this has anything to do with a format that died over a year ago, those people need their heads examined.

That's silly. Can you please point out the people on AVS that are trashing Braveheart? Where are the people saying how The Spirit looks awful? I heard the same thing several times when I tried to evangelize HD to acquaintances: they saw Terminator 2 or a similarly poor pseudo-hd release of a popular movie on blu-ray and didn't think the upgrade was worthwhile. The people with the real agenda against BD are the ones that perpetuate crap releases by forking over the cash. Personally I'm going to tell everyone I know with a blu-ray setup to save their money and skip this one.

I am not trying to convince anyone of anything other than watch the clips and decide for yourself. You are the one making up that I am trying to convince those who don't trust AVS to suddenly trust them. I am not even sure where in any of my posts that even came across. You seemed to have found something that just is not there.

I've been reminded of this just from this thread. Apparently every release is flawless, including the first release of The Fifth Element. I wonder why they went through the trouble of re-releasing that one?

Certainly that was no my intent. My point is that why should we believe anything from that site which has lost credibility.

Also how can BD material be posted as clips like this? I thought it was copyrighted. Also is there not software to prevent such copying?

After reading all the fud spread by some of the mods and admin on there I simply give that place a miss. I really could care less about AVS reviews. Reviews in general are subjective. I just prefer to rely on my own eyes/ears.

Just joined today to have a quick post on here about this thread

What is the issue with AVS on here? Why so much hatred?
Shouldn't we all be getting on as fellow internet movie fans?
I know some people on the AVS can overdo the issues on some BD discs, but they are serving a useful purpose checking quality and nit-picking to the finest degree
Hopefully the more people point out flaws, the better releases will be?
From what I've seen on many sites (not just AVS) the Gladiator release is very poor indeed
Yet not many on here mention how much they have praised the Braveheart BD? So its not an anti-BD bias

And i quoted above as I fail to see what criticism of DNR, EE & overzealous 'scratch removal' or indeed a discussion of legality of clips from films has to do with HD-DVD?

Why is it some people seem to not be able to let go of a format war that was over ages ago? What relevance has that here?

Sorry, but I felt i had to write some sort of sane comment after some of the silly comments posted on here

You can go back to your dinosaur format war dredging if you want

Shame, some real discussion about quality or lack of of titles might be nice

More amazing is that some people take this crap so seriously that they want people to get in legal trouble because they are able to get a hold of discs before wide release and take the time out of their day to let people like me make informed decisions buying them, which are not always positive conclusions
