Gotcha! Thanks. Even though i've been active on this site for a while now, I still am unfamiliar with the people who do the reviews.

Oh No!
I forgot to cancel my Gladiator preorder and they shipped it.
I just paid $27 for this from amazon,
Should I just refuse the delivery?

No, you shouldn't. It's your fault, not theirs.

Totally disagree with this thinking. The studio should put out the highest quality product in the first place. It should not be up to the consumer to push some grass roots agenda of boycotting the product, there simply are not enough people who are that interested in the issue when you look at the big picture. A few thousand people not buying it will not have the effect you desire.

I watched about 30 minutes of Gladiator, I was too dismayed to finish it But yeah I watched all of Braveheart and it truly is gorgeous.

Damn, well that's too bad to hear.

I was getting my hopes up that this was some crazy internet nerd backlash by people who haven't even seen it.

My fear is that everyone on these sites have their opinions tainted already, and no one is going into with an open mind.

That's why I've just gotta see it for myself.

That was a good complaint. Enough of those sorts of complaints, a couple industry people like Hunt complaining and maybe at some point a word of dissapproval from Ridley Scott and a re-issue will be in the works.

Watched twenty minutes of Gladiator so far and honestly, it's not nearly as bad as people think. It's not Braveheart, mind you but it is a solid upgrade to the DVDs of this film.

I can see some of the problems, but not enough to change my mind about it. The audio...top freaking notch.

My thoughts exactly - nowhere NEAR as bad as people are claiming.

Is the track DTS HD MA or Dolby TrueHD. I am asking because the review of the Digital Bits says Dolby TrueHD while Gladiator was supposed to have DTS HD MA.

DTS-MA and it is thunderous.

Back to the picture quality and maybe I'm not best suited to give it a rating because I'm only working with a 40 in Samsung LCD from nine and a half feet away, but you have to be really up on the screen, say two feet and closer to really see the issues. And last time I checked, wasn't it bad for you to sit that close to the TV?

People with larger displays than mine, I can see their attitude toward it. Still, it's not nearly as bad as Star Trek IV and it IS a pretty good improvement over the DVD.

But, I can see where it could've been much, much more.

That's the rub.

EDIT: Just came up on an extended scene, and yeah, it has a pop and detail to it that the previous scene didn't have but again, it just all comes down to display size and viewing distance. The common customer, just not going to notice the problems.

I'm sure I'd probably feel slightly different if I had a 50 inch display.

Compressed JPEGs at 720p are kind of pointless. Also, do we really need another Gladiator thread when there are so many open already?

Agree. Again, an in-motion screenshot, @ 720p, and then compressed to JPEG format...
