Really?? Your telling me that BD owners should just take the movie as it is and further encourage sucky looking movies? A little too happy go lucky for me..
When they can do something, and are too lazy to do it I feel its time to make it known. I see it as disciplining the movie studio.. Who says complaining is bad?

edit: Also, everyone has been sharing their opinions, you don't have to agree with what other people say..

LOL see I love the movie and while it does look like crap, I just wanted to get it. Worth saying again, I will either sell it when a better transfer comes out or if I'm lucky, trade it in. I would complain like you guys but since I actually bought the movie, I don't think they really care since they already have my $.

Kind of like this place over the weekend.

poster #1: "It's garbage, the worst screen caps I've ever seen on my 17" monitor." "I'm e-mailing Paramount in 20 red font to show my anger!"

poster #2: "Have you actually seen it?"

crickets...crickets...poster #1 is nowhere to be found

Hopefully this changes in a few days...and then honest *****ing and complaining can begin lol

well, I cant find that scene on the BD so closest I could find

I wont make any judgments till I can find that exact scene so If anyone knows where in the movie that first one is Ill post a better comparison.
I'm afraid those two shots are indeed a bit too dissimilar in terms of lighting conditions to make a truly valid comparison. Downscaling to 720p doesn't really help either. Regardless of that, the first shot looks fantastic to me whereas the second shot looks rather smeared.

I've seen it and quite honestly it isn't the abomination some of you suggest. Yes when you post screenshots the differences are noticable since there is time allowed to scrutinize the image. Yes, DNR is there. But no way on the level of Patton though! Maybe my eyes are not as sensitive as some of you "experts", but in full motion, the differences are not as obvious between EE and TE scenes. Frankly I was expecting much much worse.

I'm not looking at another *&%^&$ screenshot in this or any other thread.

I never looked for it on HD DVD, so thought it was, since someone suggested as much..... oh well..... More interesting is the fact that someone said it was "a great transfer" on the HD DVD...... that's an odd comment if the HD DVD doesn't exist!

Well thats your opinion, and I dont think anyone else is telling you your wrong.. Some people think the opposite so take what you want and move on..

Yes, screenshots are more harsh on the movie being its 1 frame, but I can give you 10 other screens of movies that look wonderful as a still image..

Well.... that's good. I know the DNR on Patton is terrible.... but I have the Blu-ray of that, as well as the DVD, and when I watch the film.... it's always the Blu-ray.... DNR and all..... I'd prefer an unmolested version, but the vivid colors make the Blu-ray a step above the DVD in my opinion.

Probably just a retail exclusive marketing disc with clips of a number of different films from participating studios. Kind of like the Lawrence of Arabia footage and such.

OK just watched the first 15 minutes,
there is NO WAY this looks the same as the DVD.. I don't see compression articfacts like on a DVD.

While it's not the best looking BD I own, I don't think it is as bad as people say. I must say the detail could have been better.. as this was a recent vintage movie.

Oh, the sound is great and the music is very clear, it is DTS-HD Master Audio not TrueHD like some site says. It is a few dB quieter than most other DTS HD MA. To me the sound is half the experience.

It is worth $17.99 to me.

Yup I did this morning, I shut if off a few times also, It won't move on after its "loading". This is strange, the only time I had this happen to me was with the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire disc, which ended up being a factory defect.
