Default HDSCAPE FIREPLACE Visions of Tranquility

Hey Guys, I bought HDSCAPE's Fireplace Visions of Tranquility from Amazon and was sad to find out it didn't play on my PS3. (But it worked on my Vaio Blu Ray Drive.) I contacted HDSCAPE directly and they said the following:

Thank you for your purchase.> > Blu-ray is still a developing technology as you can see evidence of> this in the fact that all Blu-ray players, including the PS3 need to> have their firmware updated regularly.> > At this time, we are investigating whether the incompatibility lies with> our software, or the PS3 hardware. We ask that you please have patience> for just a few days while we get to the bottom of this.> > If you are not willing to wait - we will be happy to refund the purchase> price of your Blu-ray disc provided you have the original receipt. > Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.>

When I asked if the other HDscapes I was renting would have the same problem they replied that only Fireplace has been found to have this issue. More news to come!

Contacted HDSCAPE This is what they said.

Yeah, thanks for the update. Just got mine and the Fireplace isn't working but the Saltwater Aquarium is. Don't have time to try the others now.

Thank you for your patience in this matter. Today we have found that the problem is not in fact with the firmware but with our product. We are now in the process of replicating new copies which will be available in no longer than 30 days. We have two options to offer you:

1. Email me with your name and address and I will send you a self-addressed stamped envelope. In the self-addressed stamped envelope enclose the product and your receipt and we will give you a full refund.
2. Email me with your name and address and as soon as the new product becomes available you will be reshipped, and you do not have to return the original disc.

I just think someone should point how AWESOME the smaller companies producing Blu-rays are when they discover a problem with their titles. Both R&B Films and now HDScape have tracked down the problem and offered exchanges for people extremely quickly after discovering problems with their titles. They should both be congratulated for doing the right thing and not "passing the buck" onto anyone else.

Check out HD DVD forums for all the issues with discs from major studios (mainly combo-format discs) and see how people have been treated by those studios when they attempt to report problems. Most ended up exchanging the discs multiple times at retail, boiled their discs, etc, and many never ended up with working discs. We should be very grateful for the customer service provided from our studios.

In both cases, those discs were authored incorrectly. Later both publishers released correct versions (I got the corrected version of Legends of Jazz at no charge). This had nothing to do with the firmaware release.
Perhaps something similar is happening here.

Boiled their discs? I don't think I could ever do that. If a help line told me to do that I would have to return everything.

Boiling discs only works temporarily for me. I tried it once with a DVDr and it started to work for about 15 mins then it just started to stutter until it died again.
