It folds while the CPU is idle, so it does it on it's own. Just like your screen saver comes on after a few minutes, so does the folding program.

you are doing great, keep it up!!

Remember, while we might want to move up even if we slip a few spots, this is all for science. Science that one day may save someone close to you.

Yep moon. The PS3 is capped at 8 hours per WU. I know some take 5 and some 8. They capped PS3's at 8 hours on the idea that, PS3 users could start folding before they went to bed and a WU would be done by the time they woke up. So ya like moon said, the longest it would take is 8 hours. BTW they assign WU's and say it's an 8 hour job, you don't have to do it all at once. They have a limit but you can fold for say 3 hours, then play warhawk for 5 then go back to folding the same WU. My guess is they give you a WU and you have about a week to finish it before they give up on it. So don't think you have to do it all at once.

It runs all the time, and has an icon in my system tray. You can set it to use less power while it detects the user is currently using the system, etc.

The work units range between 500 and 5000 frames. I've never noticed a slowdown on my machine, and my temp is always within 2-3 degrees of what it used to be when I wasn't using it. So it's going to town pretty good!

Also I just added my PS3 to the team yesterday (although I've completed over 60 WU prior to this, I forgot to add it earlier!). So I'm hoping this helps us out. My PS3 is slightly moving through the ranks!

I have had my PS3 folding 24/7 since the March 24th firmware update where it was introduced! My PS3 has completed over 600 work units by itself in that time. I also have a work PowerMac dual-G5 and a home iMac intel dual core folding 24/7. I only JUST joined the blu-ray.com folding team, but at the rate my systems are working, expect to see the PowersFoss user rising in our team quickly.

I also just bought a 2nd PS3 for our family room and after it's opened on Christmas morning, expect it to join our team and be contributing under my name. I'll see you at the top of the list!

I am curious. I've finished another 2 work units today.... the changes does not show up in the interface and the website. I wonder why.
I should have done a total of 4.

I've had my PS3 for several months now, but didn't fully understand the Folding@home project. Once I read about it on this thread, I started folding@home, and of course joined the bluray.com team. I've only folded two units so far, but every little bit helps, right?

The info you need is on the website in the link from the previous post, when you are in the folding program on your PS3, press triangle button, go to info and enter this teams number.
