Again, there's much more to HDMI 2.1 than support for an additional HDR format. eARC and game mode VRR in particular. |

As for THX - it's certification requirement on receivers were extremely stringent and Sony simply weren't up to snuff. Even their ES line. |

Those days are long gone. Samsung realized it's easier to just sell you a new TV. Samsung was also sued this past year for that marketing gimmick from a 2012 TV. No more upgrades. |

THX and UHD Premium are not technologies. They are quality certifications. Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Dolby Vision or HDR10 Plus are technologies. Usually, device makers pass along technology royalty costs to the consumer. The Sony Z9D will get a free Dolby Vision upgrade soon: The royalty cost to add Dolby Vision ranges from less than $3 per TV to lower than $2 per TV! https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/dolby...ar-giles-baker Quote:
Universal HDR TV is a big plus: consumers can play any content they want. ![]() https://twitter.com/UHD4k/status/905668550173499392 Adding a HDR format into a HDR TV is just adding a piece of software, a useful one. http://www.avsforum.com/forum/465-hi...l#post50302361 Furthermore, nowadays, there are a lot of useless software or bloatware on modern TV. What's all the fuss about adding software? |

His requirement: "If Samsung can give me a confirmation its TVs support HLG I will update the diagram accordingly."

Yes. See DanBa's reply. The owner of the diagram refuses to fix it without a high level of proof (of his choosing). It's disappointing given that we can very clearly show HLG for many months now, but, it is his diagram and his choice to do this.

And in relation to HDR, it says it has 15+stops of dynamic range and can capture a color space greater than Rec.2020. |

I don't know where these rumors about Samsung refusing to ever offer new OCB came from, but they appear to be false, as they are considering it as backup plan.

They probably don't consider it important enough yet to make an official announcement. Several officials said last year that they would add it via firmware update. Nothing more was heard until several owners tested HLG videos and discovered that they triggered HDR on their TVs. Samsung doesn't release useful firmware update notes.
