Why I don't click on spoilers anymore no matter what. I learned my lesson with other movies.

Yeah I know how I feel when someone ruins a movie for me, wish it hadn't happened to Falaskan. Maybe we should take movie 2 discussion into the thread for Mockingjay Part II, who knows?

No, I like these for reasons beyond the plot thread, so I favor experiencing them in a visual medium. Not saying I wouldn't enjoy the books, but I haven't had any urges to read them.

Same here. I like to see it played out on the screen first. If I were to read the books. It be after the movies are over.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 (2014)

The decision to split this finale did not sit well with me, and it turns out some of my reservations became reality. While it wasn't as bad overall, it's clear that the movie is being stretched out way too much, as pretty much everything that occurs here could have been covered in one film. After the bigger and more exciting sequel from last year, Mockingjay - Part 1 feels almost, well, boring.

At this point, I think the main thing keeping everything together is the great cast assembled. When you have people like Jennifer Lawrence, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and newcomer Julianne Moore in your movie, you can at least expect something interesting. Liam Hemsworth at least has something to do this time, while Elizabeth Banks and Woody Harrelson have reduced roles, which kinda sucks since they're two of the best characters.

There are some great sequences, including Katniss' visit to the ruins of District 12 and the rescue of the captured tributes near the end. But really, the film is all build-up, and that really hurts it. While I'm glad the movie wasn't a total disappointment, and I'm looking forward to Part 2, I'm hoping that one recaptures some of the excitement of the first two, and maybe even makes this installment look better in hindsight.
