For $84 and no new special features, of course people are going to scrutinize the image quality of this release. All you are basically paying for is improved picture quality and when something is amiss when you are paying that kind of money, people are understandably not going to be happy. Besides, these films are beloved by many. You better believe that if something is wrong, people are going to complain.

There is one other option for buying it cheap that I should bring up to all of you Gentleman and Ladies. Consider this: Barnes & Noble is selling the box set at 83.99 BUT they are currently running a "Buy 2 Get 1 Free" promotion this week. If one were to buy two copies of LOTR and get one free the total cost would be 167.98 before tax. But the cost divided by three would be 55.99 each. I got together with my friends who also wanted this set and we put in an order. Maybe if those of you out there have Ring fans that are looking for the lowest price can get together and help each other out. Or maybe if you can't find anyone else, your friends right here at blu-ray.com could pair up with you and place an order. It works for me. EDIT: Corrected! What happens to the thing in ROTK that looks like he has a potato head.
Hes the thing in the battle that the castlerock comes flying at & just misses him when it lands & he spits on it. I dont see him gettin wacked in the theatrical....is there an ending to him in the extended ? |

EDIT: I just saw after writing this remarks that this clip is from one of the other films. I'm not really surprised. This scene has a slight green bias but it's not even remotely comparable to any of the other scenes. Even without knowing that it's from one of the other films I found this one the only one that didn't bother me at all. So does that prove that FOTR is defective? Quote:
So, nothing here that may change my opinion. Still a no-buy. Last edited by Karl Murks; 06-22-2011 at 07:13 PM. |

![]() The only reasons I've continued to post in the thread about the debate (rather than simply ducking, covering and hiding out until it all blows over) is 1) to try and help keep the discussion civil, 2) to try and help clarify what does and doesn't appear, in shots or in motion, and 3) to point out that both sides of the debate currently have a case, neither of which can be won until Warner or Jackson respond to the controversy. Not that I'm not enjoying reading all of your comments. It's certainly been a spirited discussion ![]() Intentional? It very well could be. Error? It very well could be. I remain as curious as the rest of you, and just as eager for it to be over and done with as both camps are ![]() Last edited by Ken Brown; 06-22-2011 at 07:23 PM. |

Actually, this thread has been pretty civil the last few days. Should have seen it last week, or over the weekend. Guess between Ken sticking around in the thread and a few bans/suspensions the message was sent. Don't believe any ads have leaked yet (least none have been posted here yet), but I'm of the belief that if BB.com is going to have a price of 69.99 today for a pre-order, that given the recent trend of bb.com and pretty much all B&M's that Best Buy will have it at an ever lower price come release week -- but I have been wrong before.
