I've always thought the Army of the Dead looked fine, but was never crazy about the idea that the good guys get saved by "ghosts". It always just seemed to convenient/easy. It almost would have been smarter for Theoden & his people to just wait for Aragorn to come tell them that the Dead would fight for them, then just let them go at it and sit out the whole battle. Would have saved a bunch of lives.
I basically prefer the EE of Return of the King for the death of Sauramon scene. I know, I know, that's not how it happened in the book, but because they weren't going to have the scouring of the Shire scene, not having him killed off at any point just makes his part seem unresolved. Like he'll just stay trapped in his tower and the Ents will guard him.

Jeez didnt realize this was coming up next week already. I think Ill probably just wait for a price drop. Ive seen these movies so many times, I cant muster up any desire to see them any time soon and spend $80 on this.

If it were $40 I'd probably pull the trigger, Ill wait a year or so.

Although I claimed earlier that I wasn't going to cancel, I actually did the other day.

I just couldn't justify to myself (or my wife, haha) that $85 is worth all of those DVDs I already own, a movie with a less-than-stellar picture and the two sequels. I have been waiting for this since Dec. 2008 when I received my PS3 for Christmas, but I want the best experience possible. I think we all do. But I can stick with my DVD package for a bit longer to save myself some hard-earned bucks.

I'm hoping for a barebones release of the EE's with a bright, colorful FOTR.

One thing I will do when I receive my set is that I will watch it on my TV (Sony 55" LED X700) and then I will watch it on my PC and try to take exact side by side pics of the screenshots that display the most offensive case of green with an actual motion.

There isn't just one debate. I think there have been no less than 7 debates in this thread (at least):

1) has Fellowship been remastered and/or is detail improved? (answered - all reviewers agree and screenshots seem to confirm it)

2) is there a new color grading? (answered - all reviewers agree, even internationally*)

3) is there a green tint? (this one is also answered now - at least IMO)

4) is the same tint applied throughout the movie? (also answered as far as I'm concerned, but YMMV)

5) is the green tint annoying? (depends on who you ask)

6) is the tint wanted by the filmmaker and/or cinematographer (and therefore part of the new color grading) or an error (on top of the new color grading)?

7) last but not least, film revisionism (and all sub-debates this may encompass) - though this particular debate, while relevant (re: new color grading) is far more general and goes beyond the scope of this thread.

* French website Les Numériques noted the new FOTR color grading in their review of the French, non-WB edition of the set.

Doesn't it seem a bit too early for BB.com to be lowering the price to match what could be their advertised price during release week? Doesn't seem like a "sale" if it's been at that price for a week+ previously.
