ST will make no record sales. It is actually a niche product itself since most people won't spend that for the original TV series. In fact I know more fans of the newer series than of the original series.
Plus at that price it will scare away other customers. Even if it was on BD I wouldn't expect record sales. I would not buy it myself. But if ST:NG was out, I'd get that.

It is at best a niche title that will move some copies but nothing to be to concerned about.

It is ranked 84 out of Amazon's top 100 HDM titles and 559 out of all Amazon DVD titles.

BINGO! BINGO! BINGO! The only ppl that would touch this price tag are the hardcore trekkies and they are not happy about the "revisions". This set has not moved at all on amazon. it will not even sell 5000 copies I think. considering it comes out in a few days, its ranking is horrible. i always though paramount really didn't come out that far ahead, they are going to lose about 50 million in blu-ray sales, that only makes the deal worth 100 million. now im relalising they have to be taking losses on these hd dvd titles. i think they might make a few mil.

It will do 15k or so copies IMO. The price tag and non DVD Only version really makes the set suffer.

The price is ridiculously high. Even for HD content. This will be in the bargain bin soon enough. I really don't want to get overly optomistic this week. Wicky has been quiet. Don't know if that is good or bad.

Actually I think Paramount only took $50 Million, the other $100 Million went to Dreamworks.
Sux to be them. But Dreamworks did get a lot of money off of this.

Maybe, but it's a real stretch. It takes a lot to move the dial even 1 point. Yes, it is mathematically possible, but I'd be willing to bet that a 2-pt shift will NEVER occur this far into any given year. Obviously YTD figures can move greatly early in the year, but not this late. The SI will only get more difficult to budge as times goes by and eventually will not be tracked at all.

You realize that to get the phaser remote, you need to buy the trek set AND a hd-dvd player at the same time. Then you have to mail in for it and wait for it to show up. Really, you'd have to be asinine to go through that for a phaser remote lol.

Even if BD is dominant, getting much above 80 is almost impossible. Not until the format war is over will you see numbers above 85%. It's just to difficult mathematically given HD-DVd's base run-rate weekly sales.

If these were world numbers, the result would be in the high 80s for sure.
So the format war is essential over globally, now it is just squabbling in the US cause the HD-DVD camp can't see outside the borders.

Agreed; like as if people who buy $99 "HD" DVD players are gonna spring twice that for one season of a TV show...

Yes, but we are talking about the Nielsens.

I know you're excited, but if you keep posting this repeatedly in the thread in different forms, I'm gonna give you the boot for the day. It's as close to threadcrapping as can be right now.

I'm a Trek fan but not a fanatic. I'm dissapointed we won't see ST on Blu anytime soon. Especially the movies like Wrath of Kahn & First Contact.

That being said I wouldn't be caught dead with one of those phaser remotes. DUDer's can have 'em. I'd be embarassed to own one.

I agree that constantly asking about the numbers is akin to a five year old repeatedly asking "Are we there yet". But what exactly is threadcrapping.

I think it's the forum equivalent of noise pollution or spamming with nonsense.
