+1 Add the lower priced PS3 and the sunday Bogo sales.

I'll sitck with my 84:16

i totally forgot about new ps3 owners. that should help with some of the older titles too. im still going to stick to 85:15 as that was kind of optismistic in the first place i fell like.

If Blu hits the over 80s I'll have to celebrate by doing something... Dunno what though. Any ideas?

Sorry to nitpick, but I agree with everything you said until the last point. As you mentioned, significant volume is required to move the SI/YTD numbers 2 points. However, even a ratio of 80:20 could move the numbers 2 points with sufficient volume.

Umm... it was in jest. My bad. It will be interesting to see how informed the firesale purchasers actually were.

Just being my old, charming, optimist self...

I'll take a single percentage uptick in YTD and SI... and will be happy. I promise!

minus the firsale purchases that were sold to already existing hd dvd owners. i believe the majority of them were vastly uninformed. i think a lot of people bought them only for dvds. i think a lot of people now are po'd when they couldn't get spiderman, ratatouille, cars, pirates, etc., i think a lot of people bought them for hd dvd and when they go to the store and see that they are 29.99 a pop, the might buy one, check it out and probably never buy it again. after all how much better does an hd dvd look on a 720p vizio than an upconverted dvd (then they will come on the internetz and say how both formats aren't that great). we all know that the ppl who bit on the a2s are cheap and most likely don't have decent sets, they are the "wal-mart hdtv shoppers".

If you do option 1, paint the BR symbol on your back.

I personally would opt for option 2.

If there is ever an 80:20 split, and studios still see the need for HD-DVD this war will never end. Seriously. How much more does Blu-ray need to prove?

I am routing that this week's numbers for BD are in the 80's!
And next week's numbers are in the 90's!
