I am pretty sure we will be in the 80s too. The impact of these new Amazon BOGOs also will have a nice effect: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?p=338602

NICE! Didn't realize about to the BOGO, I might pick up an extra couple titles this week.

I wish FOX would start doing that with some of their titles as well.

I would be so broke if Fox did a BOGO right now. Ah, but the Nielsen numbers would get a nice bump. Fox's time will come . . .

Thanks fuad. So, TF is now down to 24k. Given that HD-DVD's weekly average's about 60k, the TF residual effect is almost gone (will probably in the low teens next week). Spidey residuals will be at least 50k (I'm predicting more like 70k, it's just a hunch though, I somehow have this nagging feeling that people who haven't decided whether to get SM3 or the Trilogy are going to make up their mind soon), and with Rat selling as well as it's been reported, and people picking up the second movie (most likely Cars) because of the $10 off (brilliant move by Disney BTW), we might be looking at 360k (90k base + 70k Spideys + 200k Pixars) vs. 80k (60k base + 20k TF etc.), or 82:18.

That might be a little too optimistic, the big wildcard of course is how many Pixars have sold. I hope we'll get a confirmation early in the week regarding Rat's numbers.

gandalf

P.S. By the way, using the same assumptions about the base, the previous week's numbers come out to 220k (90k base + 130k Spideys) vs. 90k (60k base + 30k TF etc.), or 71:29. I was predicting 67:33 with 20-30k of the free giveaway DUDs counting, looks like almost none of them were counted.

With the BOGOs (there's two of them just on Amazon!) it might get above 85:15, honestly. Provided some of these are counted as Sunday's numbers.

BTW, Fuad -- your Face/Off number is one larger than your 2001 Blu-ray number, apparently. This doesn't compute with the overall list.

All I said is the I believe the numbers put out by Paramount (they would obviously know better then anyone how many were sold) I also believe the sales number put out for Spiderman 3/ Sony.
no they would not know better. Do you think they called all the video stores individually to get the sales numbers every day? The only numbers they do know are how many they shipped and how many were told to them by the different reporting services like VS.

well the difference is Sony's numbers are confirmed by non biased highly credible companies who’s job is to give and estimate all real numbers. While Paramounts are 2x higher then the real ones froma company that has lied many times on sales numbers and other stuff meant to convince gullible morrons like the only reason they went HD DVD is that BD50s (used by most studios and replicating in more numbers then HD DVD) are too hard to replicate but even though that is truey there is an exclusion in that fact for some movies

You're the one who thinks they are lying, not me.
no he and everyone that is not gullible knows they are lying.

obviously you like those numbers and obviously you can't accept the truth.

Damn...

SM3 for last week's number (71:29)

Rat movie ($10 off 2 disney movies) for this week's numbers

BOGO (sony & disney) for next week's numbers

And all hd dvd has to brag about is cheap players, which doesn't even affect current hd dvd owners. I'm not even to sure why hd dvd early adopters brag about cheap players anyways. It's not like they're actually benefitting from them. Shit I'd much rather have deals on the movies themselves.

It's off by 1. If you calculate Spidey 3 and the Spidey set, they both totaled 130,001, again by 1. So it's ± 1.

The US only. However, since Japanese and South East Asian countries can buy US titles (same region) or the rest of the world can buy them too (region free - aka Warner), they get counted too. If you think that's not fair, well HD-DVD has no region coding. And they STILL can't do better.

Not quite sure about that. A fair amount of those were picked up by DUD owners as a 2nd/3rd player for their bedroom, a backup player in case an unboiled disc doesn't work in their primary player, or simply a backup in case their crappy player dies.

I love this Movie. If it ever comes out on BD I'll snatch it up.

I think after the Rat numbers come out we'll forget all about the Spidey numbers.

I definitely think that the spidey set will have legs though. I think TF people were intent on buying it THAT week..as this big coup de gras or so they thought. Wheras I dont think anyone in blu territory is in a panic to go buy this or any disc in a hurry. Heck, I may still buy it. Im in no hurry.

Next up to bat...Die Hard 4, and Pirates 3.

I think you'll see some suprises here and there too.
You'd have to tie me down and glue my eyelids open to get me to watch High School Musical 2...but a lot of people ate that up. I think Superbad can make waves too.

With the release of the Pixar's, and the BOGO sale counting for a day, I'm guessing 78:22 blu baby.

Dude, you are forgetting your neighbor to the north with our stronger dollar.

I've been buying on Amazon.com lately because of the stronger Canadian dollar.

If they are buying a second or third player then the sales numbers of the cheap players is not going to translate into higher disc sales unless the HD DVD fanboys started buying multiple copies to support their dying format.

no, the issue is that the VS % are not precise enough. Even if we assume #1 is right then Transformers can be 23751 to 23758 and FO 2932-2935 and 2001 BD can be 2930-2937

but even more noticeable that it is not a +/-1 is the fact that if you add the top 5 for 300 and 2001 they are 8 and 3 off respectively from the top 10 combined table

Damn is right! Blu-ray FTW in '07 if they keep this up. Warner going Blu-ray exclusive will also be highly likely if the Blu-ray camp puts a good whoopin up on HD DVD this holiday season.

Hey, don't give them any ideas....

Honestly, I agree with you 100%. I think at least 1/4 - 1/3 of these $98 players were gobbled up biy the existing DUD owners. Between them, the upconverting crowd and those that are totally clueless and thought these $98 "high-def" players would play Rat, Cars and Spider-Man, I suspect the impact these players make on disc sales will be minimal at best.

As someone said, if a person needs the player price to drop to $98 before buying a player, that person is not likely to go ape-shit buying movies at $20-30 a pop.
