Or you could contact BlueNeon I guess. (To me MI 1 was a "fun to see once" movie. MI 2 and MI 3 are currently in the "might be fun to see some day" category.) |

It would be best for the retailers to start to support only blu. If BB would only sell blu, they capture a larger audience. They get all the people who want to buy blu, and the people who are looking to buy a high def player. This also would eliminate any confusion as to the difference between the two formats. Buy only selling blu, you'll be able to sell a lot more hardware and software. |

![]() The only question is how "nice" the retailers want to play it out with Toshiba. I don't think Toshiba will just give up... at this point it will try to kill the mainstream future of HDM, thus preserving its DVD income. Last edited by reider; 01-22-2008 at 12:41 AM. |

It looks like we are finally seeing the plummeting red lines on the Amazon sales rank comparisons that I expected to see much sooner than this.

I think a lot of the online HD DVD community, while initially dispirited, kind of rallied themselves back into believing that HD DVD had a chance. So we saw a plunge in the numbers right after the 1/4 Warner announcement, then about a week later the numbers started going up again. But after the last set of numbers hit, the 85:15 ratio made it clear that in the real world, outside of the Internet bubble, HD DVD is dead. The reality check has led to another plunge, and I wouldn't be surprised if this one if permanent. Here's the graph for the top 100 Amazon sales over the last month: http://charts.highdefdigest.com/hist...PE=100&SPAN=30 Hopefully the remaining HD DVD supporters will give it up already and take the smart path that Dave Vaughn did in rallying behind the winning format even though it wasn't the one he wanted. There's a time to fight, but that time is past for HD DVD. |

there are still the dilusional duders who swear they have a chance at winning and getting some studios to switch.

Good point. Of course Warner won't go back, but the fact it's not immediate make things a little different to the Paramount switch.

for the adoption of one format to happen tho, we will need the big retailers like BB and Wal-mart to do something very bold. That is, take not only hd dvd players off the shelves, but also Universal and Paramount hd dvd titles. this is the only way to achieve one-format and eliminate consumer confusion imo.
this is also a way of pushing the remaining HD DVD studios to adopt blu-ray and end the format war once and for all. |

My, how things are slowing down in this thread.
Does anyone think Blu-ray's share of the market will ever drop below 80% again? |

Yes, HD-DVD owners got a second wind the week after the WB announcement, so a week or two of better figures are possible for them, but after that Blu-ray should be in the 80's most weeks.
